MLA stands for the Modern Language Association. MLA has many purposes, including to promote criticism and research in known and unknown literature. We use MLA in English to provide resources and to protect one from plagiarism.


First, set the margins to one inch and do this by going to File and page setup. Next, set the spacing to double space. After doing this step, create a header with the last name and automatic page numbering. Putting in the information for the first page is not the last step, but is a major part. The last step is to type a works cited page. The requirements include 12 point font, a legible font, double spacing, margins set to one inch, indent each paragraph, and the numbering of all pages.
