- We will be taking a reading assessment. Thursday, November 2, 2017
- We will continue to work on summarizing using GIST and checking our comprehension by using Author’s Portrait.
- We will continue to practice our choral reading. This is a great way to help with fluency. We read a paragraph together out loud as a class at a pace that I set. The more we practice this, the faster we will get and the more fluent we will become.
- Your child should continue reading or be read to nightly for 20 minutes and then getting their reading log initialed.
- We continue our novel study, Bud, Not Buddy.
- We are beginning our poetry unit. This is will cover about three to four weeks. We will be reading several different forms of poetry, and we will also begin our first PBL (Project Based Learning: A teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging and complex question, problem or challenge.), and write our own historical poem about Thanksgiving.
Social Studies:
- The students will begin writing a letter and drafting a brochure, using the app Smore, to present their bid to the public to build the Stature of Liberty, The White House or Mount Rushmore. They will need to have graphics, a financial bid, complete with numbers showing what it will take for materials, labor, time, etc. They will also have to create a name for their business. Included in the brochure will be the history of the landmark they are choosing with the how and why it came to be.
From The Seele Office:
- Seele Stampede is on Nov. 3rd, Seele PTA will host its annual walk-a-thon. This event is their biggest fundraiser and we appreciate your support. To donate, simply click on the button below.
- Referrals for NBISD’s Gifted & Talented Services will be available in the school office from November 1 – 17, 2017. All referrals must be received in the school office by the close of school day on November 17, 2017.
4th & 5th Grade "Evolution of Dance"
The 4th & 5th grade students will be performing “Evolution of Dance” on Thursday, November 16th at 6:00 P.M. in the Seele cafeteria.

Friday, November 3rd: Seele Stampede Walk-a-thon! Will be held during specials. Come on out and walk with your student! 5th Grade specials time is, 1:45-2:30!

Thursday, November 9th: Family Night
Friday, November 10th: Veteran's Day Program! 9:00a.m.
Monday, November 13th-Friday, November 17th: Book Fair!
Tuesday, November 14th: Grand Friends Day! (Lunch is as follows: Ferrier-12:05-12:35, Schluter- 12:10-12:40. These are different than our normal lunch times. Please mark your calendars!
