Easy First Aid App

While we take every safety precaution in physical education accidents do, unfortunately, happen and they normally require documentation of some sort detailing what happened, what treatment you provided, and if/how it could be avoided in the future.

Easy First Aid App is a free app that allows you to quickly document the event details and even create a photo record if needed. All the information can be entered in immediately after the accident, rather than having to wait until you have time later in the day to document it. You can download Easy First Aid App for iPad and iPhone here

PE Institute keynote addresses

The National PE Institute took place in Asheville, NC at the end of July. This year the keynote's were streamed live, meaning anyone around the world could tune in watch and featured George Graham, Bob Pangrazi, Joey Feith, Jean Blaydes Moize, Dr. Guy Le Masurier, and Barker Harrell. Artie Kamiya, who organised the event, has said that these keynotes will be available by August 14th. In the meantime, you can watch the 2013 keynote videos here - you are bound to be inspired!

Standards Based Grading: The Cupcake Analogy

Sarah Gietschier-Hartman recently wrote an excellent blog post outlining her journey towards standards based grading. Many of us are currently navigating our way towards standards based grading - Sarah's post, and the use of the cupcake analogy to help students understand levels of proficiency, is a great tool which I am sure you will find very helpful. You can read the post here.

Core Value Posters

Andy Vasily, who teaches PE in Nanjing, China, has created a set of 12 core value posters that drive the learning and character development of each student as part of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP).

Andy has very kindly shared them for anyone to download and use. Click on the link above to access the posters and read more about their place in the PYP program. I think you will agree that these are excellent resources. Andy also writes a phenomenal blog detailing his teaching journey at http://www.pyppewithandy.com/
