e learning day!
Jan. 20 is officially going to be our first e learning day. I'm kind of excited, yet still apprehensive. I am hopeful that our practice days here at school, as well as what we've been doing in our daily work have helped prepare them for doing things at home. I know there will be glitches with programs, connections etc. That just goes with the territory. You will be able to contact me for help, and I'm in the process of creating a folder that will contain some help info and another copy of their log in card. I will share that with the kids on their iPad screen so it will be available for everyone to access and you won't have to worry about finding a paper copy somewhere in their backpack. We have been using Seesaw (see the next topic ) here at school a good deal this week. I plan on having them use Seesaw for their social studies assignment on that day. I am going to keep everything else very similar to what we've been doing during our practice days so that they will be as familiar as possible. If your child works with Mrs. Watkins for reading and/ or math their assignments will be slight different, as they will come from her. We are still trying to figure our how best to share that with each child. We will let those parents know how that is going to work via email.
Seesaw!
Information was sent home regarding the Seesaw learning platform. It is a way that students can share work, practice skills and you can communicate with me. It is free to join, and you will only be able to see your child's journal and what I post. You can add up to 10 adults (grandparents etc.) to your child''s journal so they can also see what everyone is learning ! That information was sent home on Tuesday. If you need another copy, please let me know!
Swimming is Coming- March 10th- 18th Each child will need a swimsuit and towel daily. One piece suits for girls please! More info to come as the date nears.
Book It Calendars- December Book It Calendars can be returned for your Pizza Hut certificate! January calendars were sent home Jan. 6th.
If you’d like to sit with your child at lunch we’d love to have you. Lunch begins at 11:48 a.m. If you wish to eat the school lunch, please call the office to order a tray.
Reading
Math
Again we are using non-traditional strategies to solve these subtraction problems (drawing base 10 blocks, using a number line and subtracting 100s, then 10s then 1s, and possibly a couple of others! ) So if you try to show them how you learned, they are going to be very confused! Ask them to teach you how to do it with our strategies!
Here are the student book links if you're interested in learning more on how we are becoming mathematicians!
