Holy Rosary School Derby
NEWSLETTER / TERM 1 / WEEK 2 / 8th February 2023

Message from Miss Melanie
Welcome to the 2023 school year. We are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and shared experiences. I would like to welcome our new staff Miss Caroline, Miss Rebecca, Miss Inge and Mr Clinton. I would also like to welcome all our new families to our Holy Rosary Community.
We had a very positive start to the year, considering the challenges that some staff and families have faced over the holidays with the flood. There has been some great learning taking place in the classrooms and we look forward to sharing these with you through Seesaw posts - so please connect so you can see the great work being done in class each week.
Our first Whole School Mass took place on Friday 3rd February afternoon. It was great for the school to share in our first Mass and the students were very respectful. Their hymn singing was a little rusty but we will work on this over the term. Thank you to Monsignor Paul for officiating.
We have some exciting things planned for Term 1 for our students. Assemblies will be in Weeks 3, 6 and 9 of this term, with Pre-Primary starting the year with their item. Look out for information for our Pool Party on Friday the 17th Feb.
Once again welcome to 2023, I look forward to sharing a fabulous year with our students, staff and families.
God Bless.
Miss Melanie
Rejoicing Religion
Monsignor Paul will be conducting a Commitment Mass on Sunday 19th February for the Holy Rosary Staff. All of our families are encouraged to attend to support our Staff. Mass starts at 9.00am and we look forward to sharing this Mass with you.
Sacraments - for any families who have children who are baptised Catholic and would like to participate in the Sacramental programs, please can you contact the office and let Miss Jenna know. There will be a Commitment Mass for all Sacramental Candidates on Sunday 14th May (Term 2) so we encourage any families to let us know as soon as possible so that we are able to start organising these special events.

Sports Scoop
Unfortunately any carnivals held in Broome during Term 1, we will not be able to attend due to the road. Hopefully we will be able to attend carnivals from Term 2, however, this will be looked at closer to the events.
Friday Fun Day
We will be having a Pool Party on Friday 17th February from 9.00am to 11.00am for PP to Yr6. We will be having some inflatable fun too. We will also supply lunch on this day - menu to be confirmed shortly. Our first assembly for the year will take place in the Multi Purpose Room from 1.45pm. Further details to be sent out next week. Below are some pics from last year for some inspiration.
