Parent - How to Help Your Child Safely Navigate the Internet World

How Can I, As a Parent, make sure my child is safe online?

Are you looking for ways to help your child navigate the online world in a safe and healthy way? Common Sense Media is a great resource to find trusted reviews about all types of media including apps, games, TV, books and more. This online community is updated regularly and includes a section filled with parent tips for different ages from preschool to teenagers. Resources like a Family Tech Planner provide a starting point for discussing screen time, appropriate behavior online and what your expectations are for your family.

What safety practices will my child learn at school?

During media center, Beck students participate in Common Sense Education lessons with themes including privacy and security, media balance and well-being and responsible choices online. Each year, the lessons build upon previous skills and expand their understanding of how to make choices online that promote a healthy mind and body. Working together we can help our Beck students stay safe online and use technology in positive ways that promote learning.

Beck Family Volunteers - Help Wanted! Daddy - Daughter Event

Daddy Daughter Dance is a time-honored tradition, but unfortunately, without a committee to make this event happen, the girls and dads won't be able to do the chicken dance or take those crazy-fun pictures!

If you're interested in being a member of the planning committee - tentatively scheduled for mid-April - please contact BFV President Laura Brown ASAP!
