Principal Message
As you scroll through the ARMS Legend you will see many examples of how we are demonstrating GROWTH and SUCCESS. We are more intentional overall as a campus and invested in the success and thriving of our students. My perspective is 35,000 feet in the air and I see commitment, passion, and learning occurring all over, in all departments, whether in a classroom or not. Take the time to celebrate gains and meeting goals! It is part of what makes organizations move towards excellence.
We have gains/growth that still need to occur, however, we are moving in that direction and that is KEY!!! Operation Excellence in Leading.Teaching.Learning!!
Second semester is intense and you will feel an increase in the sense of urgency. With urgency, comes a need to become even tighter and purposeful with communication, teamwork, and individual investment. Our focus is always the academic & social/emotional success of our 1,307 students through the passion, commitment, caring, and expertise of 120 adults.
The importance of us continuing to focus on growth can not be overstated. During the 2nd semester, our laser focus is to be on growth, ours and our students.
How do we grow?
- We know where we start
- We know our goals
- We diligently work day in and day out to improve planning & execution
- We consistently ask have we grown and how do we know
- We appropriately and timely respond to the data
- We improve our practice
- Improvement is cyclical and never ending
It is imperative at ARMS we remain unrelenting in our role that we play in our students lives. No matter your role, we are all in GROWTH MODE for the benefit of our students thriving in life. We are models of this mindset for our students, every day.
My charge to everyone is - Don't back down from the laser focus the second semester brings, don't back down from the urgency, know that it is upon us and embrace it. Have a support system at ARMS, have faith in yourself, and know the goal is worth it and will fill you up, mind, body, and spirit!! We are educators- The most important work of our time!!
Proudest Principal in DISD,

Spotlight on ARMS Empowerment & Core Teachers
I want to say a tremendous thank you for the ARMS Empowerment team, especially Ms. Reddy, Mr. Stephens, and Ms. Craig for kicking off the second semester with a reset on ARMS Way culture. We all know the importance of culture and the mini lessons were well developed and purposeful.
Thank you teachers for teaching and reviewing the lessons with students. It is an instructional piece as it focuses on how we are to be as learners in our building. Learning, Responsibility, and Growth take place everywhere!
Spotlight on Elective Department: Operation Excellence - Team, Grit, Teaching!
I want to give a shot out to all the elective teachers.
Spotlight on Ms. Jolifee & Mrs. Miller: Operation Excellence: Teaching & Team!
Major KUDDO’S to Ms. Jolliffe & Mrs. Miller you lovely ladies support the independent advancement in outside learning environments for our UNIT students. The Kiddo’s enjoyed your elective courses, we are very appreciative of you both for the positive leadership. Thanks for going the extra mile in your teaching to ensure that ALL students succeed, and we hope you enjoyed the flowers! May you continue to bless students through the duration of your instructional careers.
Spotlight Ms. Masters, Mr. Parhms, and Mrs. McIntyre
I would like Spotlight Ms. Masters, Mr. Parhms and Mrs. McIntyre for their great job taking over the 6th grade entrance! They stepped up and stepped in wherever necessary all week and kept up the standard of excellence we strive to reach at ARMS!
Spotlight on Ms. Pearson: Operation Excellence-Teaching, Growth & Grit
Ms. Pearson, is a permanent sub. She was available for parents and students during Fall parent conference night. She constantly works on developing her lessons and worked hard and consistently with our students. She made this her class. On the Fall ACP assessment she was 1 % point behind the district %. She did this without ever having an opportunity to view the test like other veteran district technology teachers did.
Spotlight on Special Education Team: Operation Excellence- Grit & Team!
I’d like to shout out to the Special Education Team for pulling together and getting a report completed within hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome!
DISD Climate Survey - Excellence Bound!
We have grown in 11/11 over this time last year at this time
We have grown in 1/7 over this time last year at this time.
How we perceive / believe our role in cultivating their grit (nothing less from our students) or their growth (preparing them for college) is a driving factor in the academic and social/emotional success and growth our students experience.
We have grown in 1/7 over this time last year at this time.
Each week administrators and instructional coaches will highlight the growth in the instructional practices, creativity, purposeful and meaningful practices that promote student success. It is important that we recognize ALL the Excellence in Teaching we have in all of areas of our academic programs. The highlights are on a rotation and each content/department will be the focus for the week. The rotation will repeat itself throughout the year.
We would like to highlight two elective teachers.
Mrs. J. Miller - Dance
Ms. Wilson- Art I

ARMS Reminders
ARMS Way
- Bell to bell instruction - students should take care of their bathroom needs during passing. Students are not to be out of class during instructional time unless it is an emergency. SEND STUDENTS WITH A PASS. NO STUDENTS ARE TO BE IN THE HALL WITHOUT A PASS.
- We are a No GUM Zone - students and staff. Please remember this.
- A minimum of 2 grades entered a week. Assignments and grades are to reflect students mastery of the content. As a reminder, No grades for participating are given.
- Be aware of students behavior in the halls, classrooms, during transition, and/or arrival/dismissal. Over the holidays students may have engaged in altercations so we want to make sure we are being proactive in defusing these events before they even happen.
