Ranger Nation Network Newsletter
Ranger Pride, Let's Ride
2nd Edition: August 28 - September 3
Welcome to Ranger Nation
Ranger Families,
I cannot believe the first week of the 2022-23 school year has come and gone and what a week it was - safety drills, schedule changes, student assemblies, and football victories all led to an eventful but successful launch of the school year.
As we prepare for Week Two, we will continue our strong routines and procedures that students have responded to well. We will continue to focus on hallway transitions, ensuring students are in their seats by the bell; our tardy enforcement policy will begin Monday, August 29th. Additionally, Teachers and Administrators will enforce our Standard of Dress (Dress Code) daily. We ask you for your support as your student leaves home each day to ensure our acceptable standards are met.
I also want to thank our families for their support in following our parking lot procedures daily. We are moving traffic along very well. It has been a joy to see each of you in the morning times with smiles on your face. We want to ensure you can safely drop off your students and quickly move toward your next destination. Be sure to give me a "honk" when you see me directing traffic tomorrow morning. I will be sure to wave back.
We believe that a successful school starts with strong systems, followed by respect for all, and an undying spirit of culture and pride in our campus. We are building something great here at B. F. Terry High School, and we can't wait to see what is in store for the Rangers.
If there is anything we can do to support your students and family, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are here for you and believe feedback is always a gift.
As I close, please get your RED out for this week's Battle of the Berg Football game vs. Lamar CHS on Friday night at Traylor Stadium. We are the home team, and we want to pack the stands as we look to keep the bell!
Wishing you all the best - Ranger Pride, Let's Ride!
With Gratitude,

2022-23 Bell Schedule
School Starts at 8:15 am.
All students reporting to campus after 8:15 am must report to the Attendance Office to Sign-In and receive a pass issued from our Raptor System. This will allow us to account for all students who report on campus each day.
Likewise, tardies are now being entered daily by teachers, and Tardy Sweeps will take place as needed to ensure students are in their class by the bell.

2022- 23 Standard of Dress

Updated Parking Procedures
Please review the revised parking lot diagram to visualize our morning arrival process.
All students and staff using the main parking lot will be issued a parking tag and assigned a parking spot. This campus safety initiative will allow motorists to move more quickly through the parking lot since their daily spot is already reserved.
Parents will release their scholars in front of the gymnasium entrance for students who will be dropped off each morning.
Additionally, please observe our new entrance and exit-only driveways. This will allow vehicles to exit the parking lot more quickly and safely.
Students interested in purchasing a parking pass may receive additional information along with our Parking Application here.

The administrative and counseling teams shared important information for the upcoming school year.
No Outside Deliveries
Terry High School is a closed campus. Scholars must remain on campus from the start of school until the end of school. Scholars are not permitted to leave campus for lunch.
We will not permit scholars to receive outside lunch delivered from delivery services such as Uber Eats, Grub Hub, Door Dash, etc.
This is for the protection of all of our scholars. We cannot have fast food delivery drivers looking for scholar on campus. If food is delivered to campus, we will refuse to accept it.
We welcome you to come and eat lunch with your scholar. Please contact your scholar’s grade level administrator at least 24 hours in advance and ensure you are prepared with the proper identification to receive a visitor’s pass. You will need your ID or Driver’s License. Please only bring lunch for your scholar.
LCISD Safety Overview & Standard Response Protocol
Lamar CISD constantly seeks to provide a circle of protection that generates safety and security in all schools and facilities. Controlled access to buildings, visitor registry, crisis communication, employees and first responders are all essential to that cause.
Looking to implement best practices for safety and security, Lamar CISD has introduced the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). Created by the Colorado-based I Love You Guys Foundation, this standard simplifies the district’s emergency response—making it a powerful, informative and efficient guide.
The SRP refers to five specific actions in the event of an emergency or crisis. Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter and Hold are the actions students and employees are trained to perform during an emergency. A brief synopsis of each action is below.
Secure – occurs when a threat or hazard is outside of the school building. Students will remain or return inside the building. Staff will help recover students and colleagues outside the building, take roll and increase their situational awareness.
Lockdown – occurs when a threat or hazard is inside the building. Students will stay quiet and out-of-sight. Staff will lock the classroom door, turn off lights, maintain silence and obscured visibility, take roll and wait for first responders to open the door.
Evacuate – occurs when students and staff must move to another location. Students will leave all but cell phones behind, form a single-file line, show hands and be prepared for changes. Staff will lead students to the evacuation location and take roll, if possible.
Shelter – occurs when the need for personal protection is necessary, such as during a tornado or biohazard situation. Students and staff will employ appropriate safety strategies. Teachers will also take roll to account for students.
Hold – occurs when there is a need for students to clear the hallways for issues, such a medical emergency. Students will remain in their classroom until they receive an “all clear” and classes will continue as they normally would.
This protocol helps us maintain a safe learning and working environment for all students and staff.
