Chipmunk Chatter
For The Week of December 21 - January 1
Administrators' Notes
Dear Sandymount Families,
Thank you to all our families who completed the survey. We had approximately 106 families respond and provide suggestions. Your valued input was discussed at our School Improvement Team (SIT) and grade level data meetings in effort to improve the virtual learning experience for students. Our SIT chairs will be sharing the results of the survey at an upcoming PTA meeting.
Welcome back Mrs. Clarkson! Our third grade STEM teacher has informed us that she will be returning from leave on Monday, December 21st. A special shout out to Mrs. Shiloh, Mrs. Hulme, and Mrs. Kunert for their hard work and collaboration in maintaining continuity of math and science instruction.
Our wonderful PTA is hosting Holiday Spirit Days all next week! Please encourage your child(ren) to join in on the fun! Don’t forget to take a picture of your student(s) participating in showing their ugly holiday sweater, holiday pajama and/or winter hat! Remember to send the pictures to SESyearbool@gmail.com or through Shutterfly at SESYearbook.Shutterfly.com.
The staff wishes all our Sandymount families and friends a joyous holiday season, a restful winter break and a fresh start in 2021!
Stay strong, safe and healthy!
Hybrid vs. Virtual Selection
The Board Of Education voted on the decision to return to the hybrid setting on January 7th if the COVID-19 metrics are within acceptable limits at their January 4th meeting. If your child was in the virtual setting, they will remain with virtual learning. If your child attended school in the hybrid cohort setting, they will return to in-school, two-day per week hybrid learning. You can confirm your child’s cohort (A or B) in Home Access Center (HAC). Please remember that cohort A meets on Monday and Tuesday and Cohort B on Thursday and Friday.
If no changes are necessary, you do not have to contact the school. However, if you wish to change your child’s learning environment (virtual or hybrid), please email Mrs. Leach at rcleach@carrollk12.org prior to the Winter Break (12/23/24). After we have returned to the hybrid setting, if you choose to switch your child from virtual to hybrid, we will need up to one week to make the appropriate arrangements for your child to begin in the hybrid setting.
Thank you for your ongoing support and flexibility. As always, if you have any questions, please contact the school at (410) 751-3215.

The PTA is excited to announce Holiday Spirit Days all next week! Please see the Spirit Day Schedule below. Be sure to snap a picture of your student(s) participating in showing their spirit wear and send the pictures to the yearbook staff (info in the attachment).
Don't forget about the appreciation box that is located on the porch at Sandymount to collect holiday wishes for the teachers and staff from 8:30am - 4:30pm the week of 12/14 -12/18 only. All "mail" will be delivered before the winter break. Student drawings, notes and cards are all great ways to show their teachers how much they appreciate them!
Happy Holidays!

Calling All Picture Takes
The PTA is still putting together a yearbook for the 2020/21 school year! We NEED your help!
We now have a way for parents and teachers to upload pictures for the yearbook. If you already have a Shutterfly account you can log into it or you can create a new one. Go to SESYearbook.Shutterfly.com. Once you get logged on, click “Ask to become a member” in the top right. Be sure to include your students teachers name in the message. Once it has been approved, you will be able to upload pictures from your computer or you can use the app on your phone.
If anyone has pictures of Sandymount students having fun together outside of school or during breaks please add them to the album “After School Fun”.
We are also looking for headshots to include on the class pages. If you do not see an album for your students teacher, you can create one, for example “K-Hopwood”. Be sure to edit the description to include how you would like their name to appear in the yearbook.
If you have any questions or you would just like to email the pictures, please use SESYearbook@gmail.com.
