MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL OPHUS
Dear Fairview Families,
As you know, this week was Staff Appreciation Week. Thank you so much for all of the kindness that was shown to all of us working here at Fairview! Our PTO did an amazing job of treating the entire staff to delicious meals and various treats throughout the week, and many of you participated in showing kindness to us as well. We have truly felt acknowledged and appreciated all week long! I am very thankful to be working in a community that values education and all of us who work each day to help our students learn and grow. Special thanks to Jacki Kochanski and Jaime Patterson for their leadership in organizing all of these special days for us and to all of you who contributed. We also had another exciting PTO sponsored assembly this week. I’m sure your children came home talking about BMX bike rider, Matt Wilhelm, who talked to our students about the importance of kindness, related his message to his own experiences growing up, and showed off some amazing bike tricks! Special thanks to Audrey Canavino for helping organize this great show. What a great week it has been!
Looking forward to next week, as shared in our last newsletter, we will be holding Fine Arts Night on Wednesday, May 11th. Families are welcome to come to this open house style event to walk the school and look at many samples of student artwork posted around the building between 5:30 pm-7:00 pm. During this time frame, the Spring Book Fair will be open until 6:45 pm as well, and the PTO is going to have an ice cream treat from Capannari’s available for students to enjoy for the discounted price of $1! The evening will culminate with our Spring Chorus Concert starting at 7:00 pm. Then, on Friday, May 13th, we will hold the PTO Fun Fair from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm on the bus turnaround side of the school. The Fun Fair will be held outdoors this year, but will be moved inside if the weather does not cooperate. Be sure to read the flier posted in today’s newsletter for more details on how you can volunteer and participate. The Fun Fair will include lots of games, music, a cake walk, a food truck, photo booth, candy wheel and more! We hope you are able to join us for all of the fun with both of these events!
Later this month on Tuesday, May 24th, we will enjoy our annual Field Day. This event is a great way to celebrate the school year, work together as a team, and enjoy a day of being outdoors and physically active. In order to hold this event successfully, we do need help. If you are able to volunteer your time to help run a station at Field Day, please sign up using this form. You can volunteer for just the morning or afternoon shift or sign up all day. We appreciate any help you can provide.
Thank you for taking the time to read through today’s newsletter. Have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Mother’s Day!
Sincerely,
Dan Ophus
Fairview Principal
