NEW ParentVUE Absence Button
As of Wednesday, February 3, 2021, parents and guardians will have the opportunity to report their student(s) as absent or tardy electronically in ParentVUE. Available in both the ParentVUE web access and mobile device app, this new feature will appear as a button on the home screen.
The Report Absence feature allows parents and guardians to report absences up to seven days in advance and can accommodate single-day and multi-day absences. For each absence reported, parents and guardians must provide a short note to explain the reason. This note will help school attendance secretaries select the correct attendance code for the absence/tardy. If a doctor’s note or other documentation is available, there is an option to upload that resource when parents report the absence or tardy.
Parents and guardians will receive a confirmation message once an absence or tardy has been submitted successfully. Please be aware that parents and guardians cannot delete or modify reported absences/tardies. Any changes or cancellations must be communicated to the school attendance secretary by an email or phone call. Parents can review student attendance information, including any reported absences/tardies, by selecting the Attendance tab in ParentVUE. Parents and guardians will see the reported absence/tardy coded as “Unexcused” immediately after they submit an absence. Once the school attendance secretary reviews the parent-submitted absences/tardies, the parent will see the reported change to the correct attendance code.
This is the new preferred method for parents to report absences and tardies. This electronic notification would serve as the written notice required for student absences and tardies.
