Thank You!
Thank you for attending North Views first "virtual" conferences last week. Our goal was to provide our families with a meaningful conferencing experience, and I hope we accomplished just that. If you have time, please consider providing us with feedback on your experience by clicking here.
We Miss You!
Schoology
I wanted to start by saying thank you to all our parents out there who have joined our students in this distance learning adventure. Your support has helped North View students submit close to 30,000 online assignments, discussions, and assessments! This is no small feat considering this new to all of us. The staff at Northview will continue to find new and innovative ways to engage and challenge your students and support you throughout this process.
Lastly is the parent email digest. The Parent Email Digest allows you to receive email digests of your child(ren)'s activity in Schoology. I hope this information is helpful. If you have further needs associated with Schoology, please contact help@district279.org. They will be able to support you further. If you have other ideas for resources that should be highlighted in the North View newsletter, please send me an email at bledsoed@district279.org and I will do my best to accommodate your requests.
One World Many Stories
Our goal is to ensure that, although school looks a little different now, we still honor those who have excelled. One way you and your student can be involved is by participating in a Flipgrid talent show. You could sing, dance, or display a special talent you or your entire family has. You could also share a special message to your friends or teachers. If this is something that interests you, please click here to participate. Kids will need to log in with their email.
PS- 8th graders we have something special lined up for you as well.
Student Attendance
If your child is unable to engage every day because of illness or for another reason. Please continue to call the school with the reason for the absence. Your telephone call will eliminate the need for our staff to contact you regarding your student's absence. We would appreciate having the call between the hours of 7:30 and 9:30 am.

Instructional Support Information
Overview
The NVMS instructional support service is a comprehensive academic support opportunity that is focused on helping your students succeed throughout the school’s closure. The instructional support service offers tutoring services in Math, Science, Social Studies and English Language Arts via GoogleMeets. All supports are free for North View Middle School students and will begin on Wednesday, April 15th. Click here to be taken to more information.Frequently Asked Question (FAQ):
Question: What is the difference between a teacher’s office hour and the NVMS instructional support service?
Answer: Teacher office hours are times when your student can meet with their teachers to discuss the material being presented virtually. Teachers have announced their office hours and posted these hours in Schoology. The NVMS instructional support service, however, is an academic support opportunity that consists of North View Middle School educational support staff identifying and mobilizing resources that facilitate learning and promote student success.Get Your NVMS Gear

About me.
Hello,
This is my sixth year serving as principal of North View Middle School. Before coming to North View, a large portion of my professional career has been spent with Osseo Area schools, six of which were spent working as the Assistant Principal of Osseo Senior High. Before that, I spent time as a Dean of Students for Richfield High School and middle school level Science teacher and behavior dean with the Minneapolis public school system.
While in Minneapolis, I spent five wonderful years teaching middle level Science at Lincoln Community School and Anishanabe Academy to sixth, seventh and eighth graders, and two years providing academic and behavioral support while working as dean. My past experiences have shaped my core beliefs and philosophy of education. For me, schools must be an integral part of the community they serve. They should also be focused on high expectations for all students, and through developmentally appropriate and strong instructional practices, give students the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to exceed these expectations.
If you would like to connect with me please click here. I would love to hear from you!
