COURSE SELECTION FOR THE 2022/2023 SCHOOL YEAR
BOCES
All 10th grade students attended an assembly about BOCES Career & Technical programs on December 7th during their Global classes. Interested students visited BOCES on January 19th. Any student who missed the field trip may visit the Bitmoji Classroom for more information. Students should express their interest in attending BOCES as a junior when meeting with their counselor for scheduling.
There will be a make-up field trip to MEDINA BOCES on Wednesday March 2nd during 1st through 5th periods and to SANBORN BOCES on Thursday March 3rd during 3rd through 6th periods. Students may attend only one make-up trip. Students who signed up for and turned in their permission slip for the original field trip do not need to sign another field trip permission slip. If you are no longer interested in attending the field trip, please see Mrs. Kinney in the counseling center as soon as possible to take your name off the list. There are a limited number of spots available for additional students. Please see Mrs. Kinney in the counseling center to receive a permission slip. New students will be added on a first come, first served basis. Additional information about the different programs offered at BOCES can be found on their website.

COLLEGE FIELD TRIPS
Attention Juniors! College field trips give you an opportunity to see colleges, learn about their programs and meet with college advisors. We will be visiting the following colleges in the spring.
Please see the dates for field trips below:
Daemen College - Tuesday, April 26th
Niagara University - Thursday, April 28th
NCCC - Friday, May 6th
Buffalo State College - Wednesday, May 11th
University at Buffalo - Friday, May 13th
Medaille College - Wednesday, May 18th
Students will be able to choose 2 colleges to visit. Seats are available on a first come, first served basis. Permission slips can be found in the counseling center.

SAT - 3/12/22. - NOT OFFERED AT LHS
Registration Deadline - 2/12/22.
SAT - 5/7/22.

ACT- 4/2/22.

Registration Deadline - 5/6/22.
Visit the SAT and ACT websites to register. Juniors who are planning to attend college and need one of these tests should plan to sign up for a test in the spring. Some schools have waived the SAT/ACT requirement. You will need to know the LHS Testing Code: 332870
Pay close attention to registration deadline dates! Students who require testing accommodations should apply early. Fee waivers are available for those who meet the eligibility guidelines. Please contact your counselor with questions.
NATIONAL COLLEGE FAIR
The National Association for College Admission Counseling is hosting national college fairs virtually this year. The dates are:
February 15th - Multi Session Virtual College Fair
February 24th - STEM Virtual College Fair
April 3rd - Virtual College Fair
April 12th - Multi Session Student Pathways Virtual College Fair
April 26th - Multi Session Virtual College Fair
All Lockport High School college-bound juniors are encouraged to attend these free and informative events.
SUNY VIRTUAL COLLEGE FAIRS
This spring, SUNY's Virtual College Fairs are academic-themed! Students can choose from 4 fairs focused on Engineering, Health, Computer or Business majors. Each fair begins with an overview of programs, followed by an opportunity to chat with SUNY colleges.

SCHOLARSHIPS
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
College-bound seniors who have not completed the FAFSA should do so as soon as possible. The FAFSA can be accessed on the web. Financial aid letters are sent directly from the colleges to which students have applied. Seniors should review these, making necessary changes prior to enrollment.
In addition, seniors planning to attend college in New York State should not forget to apply for TAP (Tuition Assistance Program). Applications can be accessed on the web through the HESC website. Questions about financial aid packages should be directed to the college.
5 HOUR COURSE
Lockport High School will not be offering the 5-HOUR PRE-LICENSING COURSE in person this year. Please click the following link for an opportunity to enroll in an online course.
Niagara County Community College also offers driver education courses that include the 5 hour pre-licensing course. There are a limited number of spots available.
