Principal Notes
Dear Cimarron Family,
We have had an exciting week at Cimarron celebrating our Legend Feeder! Joining with the entire Legend Community through spirit days and the Homecoming Parade is a great time to see familiar faces and remember how fortunate we are. The sense of collaboration and pride that we share in this community makes the Legend Feeder a great place for students to grow and learn. Thank you to all of you who participated in these events and to NJHS and Student Council for leading the way!
Fall is a busy time at Cimarron. Athletics and clubs are underway, and conferences are just around the corner. Please check out the information below:
Parent Teacher Conferences
Collaboration with our parents is a vital component of student success at Cimarron Middle School. This fall, Cimarron Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on September 18-19, from 3:30-7:00pm.
Two types of conferences will occur again this year - scheduled and open. Scheduled conferences will be set up by each team and elective teacher.
These scheduled conferences will be held between 3:30-4:30pm.
Invitations will be sent to specific families of students based on need for designated times during the scheduled conferences.
If you are not contacted for a scheduled conference, you are invited to attend the open conferences.
These open conferences will be held between 4:45 pm and ending at 7:00 pm.
During this time, you will have the opportunity to individually meet with each teacher or team for about five minutes.\

Safety Update
Standard Response Protocol Information
School Safety
A critical ingredient in the safe school recipe is the uniform classroom response to any incident. Weather events, fires, accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by school and district administration and staff
SRP Is Action Based
The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is based not on individual scenarios but on the response to any given situation. Like the Incident Command System (ICS), SRP demands a specific vocabulary but also allows for great flexibility. The premise is simple - there are four specific actions that can be performed during an incident. When communicating these, the action is labeled with a "Term of Art" and is then followed by a "Directive." Execution of the action is performed by active participants, including students, staff, teachers and first responders.
Cimarron Safety Letter
We are ready for a great start for the 2019-20 school year! As you know, safety is our number one priority at Cimarron Middle School and in the Douglas County School District. Please read the linked letter.
