Hello There :-)
March 21, 2020
Dearest Grant Community,
Well, this is certainly not the Spring Break we all imagined! I hope you are all healthy and safe. This is an ever-changing situation and I am trying hard not to inundate you with too much information. The email, phone and text updates you are receiving from Petaluma City Schools are the best resource for rapidly changing District information regarding COVID-19. If you are not receiving them, please let me know.
In yesterday's PCS email, it mentioned that students will start home-based learning opportunities on March 30th however, you might hear from teachers before this as we all miss you so much and want to help where we can. There are many schools successfully implementing at-home learning and we, of course, will focus on making sure that your child gets the best possible education, even from afar. That being said, my primary concern is the physical and social-emotional well being of each of our students. Please keep me informed if your child is experiencing overwhelming feelings of any kind. I personally will be making myself available for phone calls and video chats when students, as well as parents, need/want a check-in. Many of our staff members will be doing the same and we are getting creative with how we will stay connected during this unprecedented and difficult time. There are still so many unknowns that make our plan ever-changing but what I do know is that we need your help to maintain a strong school-home connection. Please make sure your child knows his/her teacher is excited to connect with them after our extended Spring Break!
Here is a quick survey to help us plan for each and every Grant family: Grant Survey. Please complete the survey as soon as possible so that we can get a jump start on who needs devices, who needs WiFi, who needs school lunches, etc. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and kindness as we all look for opportunities to reflect, rethink, refine, innovate and learn together in this changing landscape. For now, take walks, build pillow forts, read together, cook, play board games and be easy on yourselves.
Love,
Ms. Grey
