Message from the Principal

Hello Ramsey Families!

This coming week is a busy week for parent involvement. We have our Mid Quarter 1 conferences on Tuesday night and during the day on Friday. Our October PTO meeting is this Thursday night. We hope that you will be able to participate in both opportunities!

Ms. Vibar

Fall Conferences are Here!

At this conference, we invite you and your student to both participate. Teachers will walk through your student's Schoology grades and invite your student to share their perspectives on strengths, areas of growth and things that are going well and any struggles. Foundations teachers will assist you with connecting with additional teachers as you need.

If you have not scheduled your conference time please do so below. Select your student(s) grade level, find your student(s) foundations teacher and select the date and time that works best for you and your family. **Please note: conferences are held with the foundations teacher only. Please select one conference time.

Please take some time to review the TIPS for Virtual Conferences and the Student-Led conference graphic organizer below.

IB-MYP Update:

IB-MYP Update:

As part of the IB Middle Years Programme, teachers use IB rubrics to assess assessments throughout the year. Student work is scored with an IB level from 0-8: level 1-2=limited, 3-4=adequate, 5-6=substantial, 7-8=excellent. When we report the levels using the Schoology gradebook features, this can cause some confusion because the IB level is translated into a percentage which does not match the description of the level, which is why the IB levels are reported in a category that is worth 0% of the grade. Please watch this video for more information about how IB levels are reported using Schoology.

IB Parent Grading Explanation

Student of the Month

Ramsey is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school. Each month three students, one per grade, are recognized for one of the IB learner profiles. For the month of September students were recognized for the learner profile of Caring.

Important Message from the RMS Counselors

Schedule Changes: With a robust Ramsey enrollment starting to settle down, Counselors are able to take a deeper look at class sizes and begin to reduce classes that are over the maximum allowed students. What this means is that some students will see changes in their schedule. We are anticipating that this will effect less than 10% of our students, those of which we will contact individually to explain the changes. We encourage students and families to reach out to the counselors directly with any questions you may have. Thank You. Quarter One Mid-term Grades: With quarter one mid-terms already upon us and conferences being held virtually this year, we want to inform families that mid-term grades can be viewed via Schoology. Students and families who would like to request a mid-term grades report should email the counselors or any grade level administrators and we will be happy to send an electronic copy right over to you. Thank You. Barbie Woodruff: barbie.woodruff@spps.org Ayoub Nigatu: ayoub.nigatu@spps.org

IB-MYP Design Update:

In IB-MYP Design class, we have been working on a project where students are pretending to be travel agents who are planning a trip for their clients based on the client profile they developed and the budget and time constraints we determined for students. Our statement of inquiry for this unit is: Perspective about what creates happiness can determine appreciation of a particular time, place, and space.

We have completed the first two Design objectives: Inquiring and analysing (Obj. A) and Developing ideas (Obj. B). After MEA, we are going to be starting the summative part of our project: Creating the solution (Obj. C) and Evaluating (Obj. D).

Please reach out to your student's Design teacher with any questions.

Campus Parent:

Having issues logging onto Campus Parent? Please contact the school at 651-293-8860 or email sandy.pothen@spps.org to recover usernames and passwords.

Every SPPS family should complete an application for Education Benefits/Free or Reduced Price Meals. Not only does this help us identify families in need of assistance, it also allows the District to receive federal dollars for classroom programming.

A new form must be completed each school year. Additionally, families who have completed an application and have experienced a change in household income or size are encouraged to complete a new application. Click the button below to complete the application.

Comcast Internet Essentials Free Through December

Comcast provides basic wireless Internet called Internet Essentials, and it is free through December. The district will provide a Hotspot, but if you are finding that isn't enough data or you are unable to wait for a ticket to be completed, contact Comcast to apply https://www.internetessentials.com/. If Comcast does not extend the free price after December, you'd have the option to quit when it is no longer free or pay the $9.95/month + tax.

The Salvation Army has begun its coat drive. The Salvation Army’s centers are a place for families in crisis to get help, including coats for their children. Visit any of our Twin Cities Worship & Service Centers to learn about meeting your child’s need for a coat. Supplies may be limited, so we recommend contacting the nearest location before stopping by to find out if supplies are available in the sizes you need.

Families can register with their local Salvation Army:
