A PBL Project...Holiday Toys
Check out this Great PBL Project for the Holiday Season...A GREAT way to keep kids mind's busy during this extra exciting time of the year!
There's no doubt that Christmas and the holiday season is the one "current event" on everyone's mind right now. In fact, most retail outlets have probably had this time of year circled on their calendar all year long. This is especially true for toy stores, who want to spread holiday cheer so much that you're willing to pay big money for that new toy that every kid just has to have.
So, that got me thinking: What makes a great toy? Students will have to answer that question in this exercise as they become toy designers trying to figure out what new toy will soon be flying off of the shelves. They will review the history of toys over the past century, including the major sensations (from "Tickle Me Elmo!" to Zhu-Zhu Pets to Silly Bands). They'll also take a look at how toys are changing and what to expect in the future.
