About the Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution began in Great Britain in the 1700's. Machines took the place of many hand tools.
Child Labor
In the Industrial Revolution kids ordered to work in mills or machines. They also had to wake up earlier than usual. A man(that had to work in the mill and had to wake up early in the morning when he was a child) was interviewed and said," We had to wake up early in the morning. We worked until dinner time and then to nine or ten at night. On Saturday, it could be 'till eleven and often 'till twelve at night."
Poor Factory Conditions
The industrial workers would have to be careful of how they handle the machines in the factory. Some of them would get injured or killed. Members would also die waiting for trial, have been beaten, and would be framed or unjustly accused.
Extreme Working Hours
Workers had to toil from thirteen to fourteen hours a day. In the Joy Hakim Doc 2 she says, " Our working conditions, however are less than idea, and it has led to public debate, over more than one issue. Some of the operatives ( which is what mill workers are called) are trying to get our working day cut to ten hours. "
