Mary Kate Boyle (Gamble) First grade eagerly welcomes its newest member, Ms. Gamble to the team! Ms. Gamble previously taught first grade at Marrington Elementary in Berkeley County and graduated from the College of Charleston. She adopted a dog from the Greenville Humane Society and named her Ellie. Outside of school, Ms. Gamble enjoys being in the outdoors with her husband and Ellie. Welcome to Oakview, Ms. Gamble! | Elizabeth Cook Our kindergarten team welcomes one of its newest members, Ms. Cook, to Oakview! Ms. Cook has taught kindergarten in Woodruff for 3 years and taught kindergarten, third, and fifth in Charleston for five years. She holds a Bachelors in Elementary Education from Carson-Newman College and a Masters in Reading Education from the University of Tennessee. Outside of school, Ms. Cook enjoys a good workout, going to the lake and playing with her dog, Holly. She also loves to travel and go on adventures--she's been to 30 states and 6 countries! Welcome to Oakview, Ms. Cook! | Joe D'Andrea Oakview welcomes our new Plant Engineer, Mr. D'Andrea, to our building! Mr. D'Andrea and his team have worked tirelessly this summer to prepare our school for the start of the 2019-2020 year. He comes to us from Ralph Chandler Middle School, where he was the Head Custodian. Mr. D'Andrea also previously worked at Woodmont Middle School. When not at school, he enjoys going to the pool and BBQ-ing. You can find Mr. D'Andrea working around his house and landscaping as well. He also enjoys motorcycling! Kacey Dawson One of our two new computer lab managers, Ms. Dawson has been a frequent volunteer at Oakview! She is a graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University and still loves to cheer on SU sports. Ms. Dawson has worked on designing and writing websites and other marketing materials. She is really looking forward to helping students learn digital skills. Ms. Dawson enjoys spending time with her family, working on home projects, designing websites, and yoga. When she was 15, she traveled to France alone and lived with a family for a week just outside of Paris and then spent a month in Normandy. Fantastique! Welcome to Oakview, Ms. Dawson! | Myra Hayes Oakview's newest Kindergarten assistant, Ms. Hayes, has been a frequent substitute at OES. She also volunteered quite a bit for her "almost" grown daughters' organizations. Prior to staying at home with her children, Ms. Hayes was a flight attendant. She holds a Bachelors of Science degree-History from East Tennessee State University. When not at school, Ms. Hayes enjoys tennis and spending time with her family. Get out your U.S. maps--Ms. Hayes LOVES to travel and has been to 48 states. She's hoping to visit Iowa and North Dakota in the future! Welcome to Oakview, Ms. Hayes! | Heather Larkin Oakview is excited to welcome Ms. Larkin, one of our two computer lab managers! She comes to us from Mauldin Elementary where she served as their computer lab teacher. Ms. Larkin attended UNC-Greensboro where she studied humanities and is currently taking coursework to earn her Masters in Elementary Education through WGU. Outside of school, Ms. Larkin loves reading, spending time with family, crafting and watching sports--especially the New York Yankees! Need somthing typed? Mario Oliveira The second grade team is excited to welcome its newest member, Mr. Oliveira, this fall! Mr. Oliveira has a BS in Elementary Education and Special Education from the University of Miami. He previously taught in Henderson, Nevada. When not at school, you'll find Mr. Oliveira reading, watching Netflix, playing (or watching!) sports, and cooking. He also likes to travel. When growing up, he spend the majority of his summers in Portugal, where his family is originally from. Welcome to Oakview, Mr. Oliveira! | Chase Pennell Oakview welcomes our new school-based mental health counselor, Ms. Pennell! She holds a BS in Child Development, a Masters in Social Work. She holds multiple certifications including Certified Educational Therapist. Ms. Pennell has 35 years working with individuals, children, and families in various therapeutic settings. She specializes in assessment, prevention, and intervention when providing services to students. Ms. Pennell enjoys anything outside and loves to read when not at school. And, she speaks basic Swahili! Welcome to Oakview, Ms. Pennell! | Jennifer Phillips One of our new Kindergarten teachers, Ms. Phillips, hails from Sumter, SC. After graduating from Sumter High School, Ms. Phillips obtained a marketing degree from Lander University and a Masters in Teaching from Converse College. She has taught kindergarten for the past six years in Spartanburg District 5. Outside of school, Ms. Phillips enjoys spending time with her family and reading. Candace Shealey Mrs. Agnew's class cannot wait to welcome their newest team member, Ms. Shealey! She comes to Oakview from Bryson Elementary but she also worked as a substitute and as the Extended Day Program director at Buena Vista Elemnetary. Outside of school, Ms. Shealey loves to spend time with her family and cooking. She also loves to exercise by taking cycling classes. Welcome to Oakview, Ms. Shealey! | Regina Taylor Oakview's newest third grade member, Regina Taylor, has been a teacher for twelve years! She taught 2nd grade for 5 years, 3rd grade for 4, and 4th grade for 3. Ms. Taylor has a BS in Elementary Education from Drury University and a master's in Educational Leadership from Lindenwood University. You might find her reading, shopping, or spending time with her family and friends when she is not at school. Ms. Taylor is also looking forward to the day she can visit Italy-- she loves Italian and Caribbean cuisines! Welcome to Oakview, Ms. Taylor! | Stephanie Williams Fifth grade is welcoming their newest team member, Ms. Williams! She is starting her fifth year teaching, having been in 2nd grade and 4th grade. Ms. Williams was also a reading interventionist. She has a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Colorado. Outside of school, she enjoys her time with her family! You might find her wrangling her toddler and 2 dogs around the neighborhood, trying new foodie spots with her sister, and frequent visits to the Peace Center shows. Mary Catherine Young One of Oakview's newest kindergarten teacher, Ms. Young, is no stranger to our school! She has been involved in many ways (PTA, SIC, Reading Tutor, Room Coordinator, and Book Fair Chair) and is very excited to jump back into the classroom to do what she loves! Ms. Young has an Early Childhood Education degree from Clemson and a Masters in Reading Education. She's taught in both Florida and Georgia. You'll find Ms. Young spending time with her family, taking long walk with her dog, Molly, and serving her church when she isn't at school. Welcome to Oakview, Ms. Young! |
