Cool Cat News
Campus Brief
Cool Cats,
I was looking at some data the other day and it was pretty amazing how much this teacher had grown her students since the beginning of the year! My heart smiled for that teacher and for her very fortunate students! This is a picture of success- when all of our hard work and effort is reflected in significant growth for our students.
Yesterday I was called in to support a student who had decided that she wanted to stay at school even though other students were actively being dismissed to go home. This is a picture of trust- when our students feel peace and happiness within our walls. They enjoy experiencing love and understanding, kindness and caring, safety and security due to boundaries and limits. Our kids recognize the value of consistency in their lives. Thank you for showing kindness to our students.
Ron Morrison made it so clear this week on our PD day. If we as educators can't find a way to make positive emotional connections with our students, then we are limiting their pathway to learning (possibly forever)! It's scary the power we have. As the adult, we should all be challenged and convicted to take responsibility for every unkind word, every subtle put down, every sarcastic comment, every hurtful negative response, EVERY shameful BOX we communicate to our students. Next week at our staff meeting, let's follow up with more conversation about the vision we have for creating positive emotional connections with our students. We may not have agreed with everything that was shared, but i hope we were all challenged to think differently, at least a little.
Quote of the week:
" I am only one, but I am one, I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do."~Edward Everett Hale
Have a good weekend!

Ms. Rita Speaks!
"Mrs. Pierson, Is this an F?"
I said..."Yes."
"Then why did you put a smiley face on it?"
I said, "Cause you're on the road. You got 2 right; You didn't miss them all! And when we review, won't you do better?"
"Yes ma'am, I can do better."
"You see.....Minus 18 sucks the life out you; Plus 2 says.... I ain't ALL bad!"
Gotta love Mrs. Rita! Do you need a pick me up? Do you need a laugh or a smile? STOP, right now and watch Mrs. Rita! You have permission. She will warm your heart and bring a guaranteed smile to your face!
