Principal's Post - A Weekly Note From Mr. Ortman
Happy Long Weekend, Mill Creek!
As we celebrate the love of Valentine's Day and the inspirational character traits of U.S. Presidents, I also want to celebrate the amazing character traits of our students, who truly uphold the tenets of our Creekers' Code - Cooperation, Respect, Excellence, Effort, Kindness, Empathy, Responsibility, and Support every day. Thank you, Creekers, for honoring the Creekers' Code and for making Mill Creek a place where character counts and is on display!
Have a wonderful holiday weekend, Mill Creek!
Shawn M. Ortman
Principal
From the Desk of Mr. Murtha
We are upon a double holiday weekend with Valentine's Day on Sunday and Presidents' Day on Monday. I am conflicted this weekend, as I am both a history guy (I taught social studies for a number of years) and a feelings guy. But working with elementary students always has me gravitate to relationships, which most certainly involves showing care and concern (involving feelings) to others, especially our students. I wrote to my staff this morning to encourage them to spend some time focusing on those they love (and who love them) this weekend. For educators, that is a large group. We love our own children, our spouses/partners, and our families, but we also love our students. That love surely manifests itself in different ways, but I believe that love is a very powerful force, regardless of how we present it to others. I do think it is hugely important that we give love and spread love. Our world, our country, our community, and our kids surely need it. We all surely need it.
So, for those history buffs, get your fill of Presidential knowledge this weekend, but also take some time to give love and spread love!
Mr. John C. Murtha
Assistant Principal
