Tips and Tricks to Teach K-6 Spelling
Have you ever wondered why or how to teach spelling? Are you or your kids frustrated with spelling? You're in luck! This Friday at 6 pm, we are very honored to have Sue Heinz come to explain the 'sequence of spelling' as it relates to the English language. In addition, she will help us be able to recognize developmental stages and types of spelling errors to guide successful instruction and will offer practical ideas how to better teach spelling to our kids, especially our struggling learners.
Who is Sue Heinz? Susan Heinz, PhD, is an experienced educator who has been a teacher and Slingerland Program supervisor for ASD, professor at UAA, Dean of Faculty for the Slingerland Institute for Literacy in Bellevue, WA, and a Slingerland teacher trainer in various states. Sue currently tutors a few students and has been a frequent presenter for local workshops and at national and international conferences. Her topics usually include language arts and the dyslexic/struggling learner. She is passionate about helping teachers and parents with multisensory instruction.
