Adoption of Consent Agenda Items

The Governing Board voted to accept the consent agenda items. Items listed under the consent agenda motion are considered to be a regular course of procedure and are acted on by the Board of Trustees in one motion.


There is no discussion of these items prior to the Board vote unless a member of the Board, staff, or the public requests specific items be discussed and/or removed from the agenda. It is understood that the administration recommends approval on all consent items. Each item on the consent agenda approved by the Board of Trustees shall be deemed to have been considered in full and adopted as recommended.

Community Engagement and Survey Platform

Cambrian School District is looking for new and updated ways to engage our community and capture diverse perspectives to ensure strategies that meet the needs of the District.

Measure R: Award Trade Contracts for the Modular Classroom Projects at Fammatre, Farnham, Sartorette, and Price

The Governing Board awarded the five (5) different construction trades packages with the lowest bid amount.


On August 5, 2021, the Board authorized to move forward with Measure R Tier I projects, which included the replacement of the oldest portables located at Fammatre, Farnham, Sartorette, and Price. RGMK obtained bids from various vendors and the results of the bid opening on May 9, 2023, are attached. A total of ten (10) contractor bids were received covering the five (5) different construction trade bid packages.

Bids from the apparent low bidders in each trade package are under evaluation. RGMK staff will present findings from these evaluations and discuss any project budget implications.

Measure R: Construction Management Contract Amendment #4

The Governing Board approved the attached Addendums for Construction Management Services with RGM Kramer Inc. for Bagby, Fammatre, Farnham, Price, and Sartorette.


In 2021, the Board approved the contract with RGM Kramer Inc. for Measure R Construction Management Services. The original Construction Management Fees were based on an estimated cost of construction for each site. The attached amendment reflects the current Construction Management Fees based on the end of project adjustment.

Amendment #4 - Adjustment in Construction Management Fees:

Sartorette: $10,000

2023-24 Local Control Accountability Plan Presentations for Price, Sartorette & Steindorf

Ms. Margaret Lavin, Price Principal, Mrs. Debbie Stein, Sartorette Principal, and Ms. Lisa MacFarland, Steindorf Principal, provided a summary and outline of their 2023-24 Local Control Accountability Plan School Plan. These updates will include an overview of the goals, actions and services for improving student outcomes according to the eight priorities set by the state in alignment with the District's Local Control Accountability Plans (LCAP).


The Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a three-year plan that describes the goals, actions, services, and expenditures to support positive student outcomes that address state and local priorities. The LCAP provides an opportunity for our schools and the district to share their stories of how, what, and why programs and services are selected to meet their local needs.

Personnel: Provisional Internship Permit

The Governing Board approved a Provisional Internship Permit for Ms. Elizabeth Leaverton, qualifying her for the Special Education Preschool assignment. The Provisional Internship Permit (PIP) allows districts to fill an immediate staffing need by hiring an individual who has not yet met the subject matter competence requirement needed.


Cambrian conducted an extensive search to fill our Special Education Preschool teacher opening. Ms. Leaverton is currently in the process of completing course work required for teaching credential.


Governing Board Office Hours Update from May 9 Event

The Board of Trustees provided an update on the recent open-door meeting with the community held at Bagby Elementary School.

Next Board Meeting

The next meeting of the Cambrian School Board will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 7 p.m. Meetings are held in person at the Professional Development Center located at 4115 Jacksol Drive, San Jose, CA 95124 in Building 7, and can be viewed online as well. Agenda and login information will be available the week of the June 1st meeting. The meeting is open to the public.
