Keeping you informed about our schools -- December 2, 2022
Renew FlashAlert to keep getting emergency news
In the photo above, students are arriving two hours late at Robert Gray Elementary School on Friday morning. The wait was worth it, as the snow that blanketed the area had all but disappeared and conditions were much safer.
The Harbor went to bed Thursday night with an overnight forecast of clear skies, but Grays Harbor's notoriously unpredictable weather was up to its usual tricks. It snowed overnight, leaving more than an inch on the ground in Aberdeen, with colder temps and deeper snow in the outlying areas, prompting the two-hour late start.
This is your annual reminder to renew your FlashAlert account before December 15. Weather closure information is shared on several ASD5 platforms, but FlashAlert is the most reliable and it is posted the earliest. It is the primary platform for announcing a school emergency closure due to weather.
Families should also make sure their telephone number is up to date at school in order to receive a robo-call when there is a late-start or closure.

It's all 'Hands On' After School
Many thanks to the Hands on Children's Museum for the hands-on activities shared with schools to use in the 21st Century After School Program. In the After School Program, students work collaboratively on homework or other learning goals before transitioning to activities. Check with your student's school for more information on how to sign up.
