Friday Focus

Moreau Heights Elementary

December 18

PBS Focus of the Week -

These last days, we will focus on finding opportunities to remind students of expectations and positively recognize those who are doing their jobs. As we move into days that may look a little different than typical, it is important that we provide extra support through frequent reminders and precorrects, in addition to maintaining our 4-1 with positive feedback.

Our Character Trait for the month is Compassion

Duties for the Week

Collective Commitment of the Week

Staff will create a sense of belonging so all feel proud, accepted and welcome.

  • We will be respectful by treating others the way we want to be treated.

Reflecting on how we respond to students and each other is key! Do we show empathy for our students and colleagues in a way the supports them without enabling?

Important Odds and Ends

*Nurse Judy will be honored at the January Staff Appreciation Breakfast on January 21st.

Nurse Judy goes above and beyond in her duty as a school nurse, both for our students AND our staff. This is only her second year in a school setting, but she has certainly found her calling! The care and consideration she has for all around her is admirable...her sense of humor is awesome as well! We are SO lucky to have Nurse Judy and we are thankful for her every single day!

*Be aware that all students will take the SRI (FRA for kindergarten only) when we return in January. The window for assessment is January 5 - 22.

*January 4 is designated as a professional development day for the district. The decision has been made to use the entire day for professional development focused on instructional strategies, instead of a portion of the day given for classroom work (entering grades, grading papers, etc.).

We will meet as a staff in the library for our time. We will be working on things related to PBS, instructional practices, and student achievement.

Grading Window

The Second Quarter Grading window opens Friday, December 18th. Think about spending a little time this weekend or after school on Monday, December 21st, to complete your second quarter grade cards . . . that way you can take a WINTER BREAK! The grade card window closes Wednesday, January 6th at 7:00 a.m. Please let Leslie know when you are finished posting grades (specials too). She can start printing off grade cards when she knows everything is ready and this gives you more time to look them over for errors while the window is still open! Grade cards will be sent home January 7th.

Goodbye . . .

Brandi Swader will be leaving us to take a full time position writing grants with the Department of Public Safety. We are sad to lose her support for our school and wish her the very best in her new position!
