GHOSTS OF WAR

Ryan Smithson was a regular boy working his way through high school. When he finished he joined the Army Reserves. He was deployed to Iraq when he was only 19.

GHOSTS OF WAR

The Army Reserves makes it possible to join the U.S Army without making it your career/job, and that is exactly what Ryan did.

Where:

At the age of 19 Ryan was deployed to Iraq. Even though he only spent a year in Iraq, being in combat changed his life.

GHOSTS OF WAR

The Iraqi war began because of the attacks of the World Trade Center towers. The war started in 2003 and ended in 2011.
Ryan joined the Reserves because he thought it was the right thing to do, and he had to keep reminding himself that it was the right thing to do to get through the long hard days of combat.
Ryan took a plane to and from Iraq. It was the worst part of his deployment because he was nervous due to the attacks on the World Trade Center.
