Toy Town Unified Arts Newsletter
2022-2023 Volume 1
Art with Mr. Rose 🎨
Hello, My name is Jon Rose. I am the new art teacher at Toytown Elementary. I have had a great start to the year, and a great time getting to know all my new students. The positivity of the school is contagious at TTE.
Art has the innate ability to communicate cross-culturally without words, and bring communities together. This year I plan on helping the Toy Town Elementary community express themselves through art. We will be focusing on creating art using the seven fundamentals of art (Line, Shape, Form, Color, Texture, Value, and Space.) I try to bring the outside world and the art of different cultures into the classroom. I also hope to bring many different, and fun art experiences to the students at TTE in a safe and respectful environment.

Technology with Mrs. Daigle💻
The students started the year off reviewing the Acceptable Use Policy for Technology and various topics within Digital Citizenship. Some of the topics that were covered were Digital Citizenship itself, Digital Footprint, and Personal Information. We will cover Cyberbullying through out the year.
Fourth and Fifth grade will review how to use some of the Google Apps (Google Classroom, Docs, Sheets, and Slides) and 3rd grade will be introduced to more of the Google Apps and use Google Classroom.
Later this year we will explore the Design Process and do some STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) activities.

Physical Education with Mr. Dellasanta🏈
The 2022-23 school year has kick off in many great ways. The Grounds and
Building look great and there are many new and exciting things going on that are going
to make the year great!!! That being said, I have decided to focus our PE activities this
year (around much need) Social, Emotional Learning and activities.
The first unit introduced was GAGA Ball. Gaga Ball is a high paced, high
energy sport played in an octagonal pit. Dubbed a kinder version of dodge ball, the
game is played with a soft ball and combines the skills of dodging, striking, running, and
jumping, while trying to hit opponents with a ball below the waist. Players need to
keep moving to avoid getting hit by the ball. Easily addictive, people can’t wait to get
back into the pit. The games move quickly …. After a few short minutes , the action
heats up with a second ball, sure to get even the best players out within minutes. Once
the game ends everyone is back in for the next round.
Thanks to beautiful weather this fall we are now outside across the street at
Bentley Field. Here classes have started our Soccer Unit, working on skills on kicking,
punting, juggling, dribbling and goal tending. We will then move on to our “Flag
Football” unit, with a focus on skills, rules, and positions. Our final unit outside for the
fall will be Capture the Flag.
Please be reminded that sandals, boots and crocks are not allowed to be worn
during PE in the gym or outside. That is for NO other reason than your child’s safety,
Sneakers only. Some upcoming units this winter include Polo, Floor Hockey,
Basketball, 4 Square, Pickle Ball, Volleyball and Gymnastics! I hope you enjoy the
remainder of the Fall season with you families and friends.
Sincerely,
Mr. Dellasanta
Music with Mr. Frederick 🎼
This year in music, we've got a lot of exciting stuff coming! We started off the year with a refresher course in reading the music staff and rhythm patterns. 4th and 5th grade got a crash course in music production using Sound Trap, and third grade got to play music together using our brand new desk bells. There's a lot more coming to music class soon, including learning piano, recorders, and ukuleles. Get ready for a fun, exciting year!
