Most physicians tend to enjoy being self employed than working for someone. Physicians that are employed don't have to deal with the business of running an office, dealing with insurers and billing, guaranteed even income, and god benefits package. On the other hand being employed you have limited influence for decision making, limited income, and not much control on their schedules. A lot of doctors who become self employed are happier but tend to realize that patient care is better when they are employed.
