Why was Ramses II important?
Ramses II was important because he shaped Ancient Egypt to become a powerful empire. He wrote one of the worlds first peace treaties. He also expanded Egyptian rule to other lands.
Major events of his life
· -Had lots of conflict with the hittites
· -launched a major attack on the Hittite Empire from his base in northern Palestine and Phoenicia (greatest offence of his career)
· -He suppressed uprisings in Egypt
· -Invaded Syria
· -Wrote a treaty between the Hittites and the Egyptians
· -Married the daughter of a Hittite king
