Reopening Plan-Initial Information

Reopening Plan-Initial Information

Hello Adie families! This is a summer update. I hope that this message finds everyone safe, healthy, and enjoying their summer. We are hard at work planning for the 20-21 school year and as you may have heard, the School Committee has announced our reopening plan for the fall.

The plan, called "Maximizing Options for Families," allows you to choose a full in-person or full-remote return to school. You can access the entire plan by clicking here but some highlights are:

  • The start of the school year has been pushed to September 17th.
  • If you would like your student to attend school in person, there will be an online form to fill out between August 19 and 27. I will be sure to email it to you when it comes available.
  • The district will be following the most stringent safety standards for students who attend school in-person. Classrooms are undergoing procedures to ensure air quality and ventilation are being held to high standards, all students and staff will wear masks throughout the day, and we will be following a 6 foot social distancing standard. We will also be using a cohort model to keep groups of students from mixing and limiting visitors to the building.
  • For those who choose the remote learning option, the experience will be much different than it was this spring. There will be more structured learning time with students and teachers as well as an attendance policy to account for instructional time. Also, all students whether in-person or remote will be issued a device from Lowell Public Schools to use the entire year.

We know this is not an easy decision and that many factors play a role for each and every member of the Adie school. Pages 9-16 provide guidance in helping you make that decision or you can visit the LPS Reopening Plan website where all updates will be posted by clicking here. The district is also providing community forums to be held virtually. Those forums will take place on:

  • Tuesday, August 11 at noon
  • Wednesday, August 12 at 4pm
  • Tuesday, August 18 at 6:30pm

A Zoom link will be posted here before each forum.

Please know that we are here to support whichever choice you make. Our standards for high quality and individualized education will not change whether your child is physically in school or working remotely from home.

If you choose to send your child back to school and would like assistance in preparing for social distancing we will be setting up parent information sessions. During this time we will share with you the various visuals and strategies we implemented during the summer program.

Also, please feel free to reach out to me ( if you have any questions. We are happy to help any way that we can. We look forward to working with the students and families again.
