Gregg at Claxton
2016-2017
January 22, 2017
Happy New Year! While I'm a bit late wishing you a Happy New Year, it is meant from the bottom of my heart. I have been and continue to be grateful for the opportunity to work with you and your children.
We are beginning Leader in Me in the classroom. I've included a link at the bottom of this page so you may learn more. We have talked about habits and paradigms and are learning about the 7 habits that can help all of us develop the leaders in ourselves.
We are completing the 2nd quarter and have begun working on the following content:
- Social Studies - Government
- Math - Addition and Subtraction
- Reading - Folktales, including fables, myths, fairy tales, and tall tales
- Fundations - v consonant e words and exceptions
- Writing - publishing our opinion writing pieces
I'd also like to begin Mystery Readers each Friday at 11:15. A note will come home with more information Monday, but this will provide family members an opportunity to come in and read a favorite picture book. I am including a link to a google doc for family members to sign up to read (see below). Just add your name to the column beneath the date of the document. Only one reader per week, please.
Finally, I need a favor. First, thanks to EVERYONE who has provided supplies this year! However, we need more tissues and paper towels if you're going out to shop and can afford to help! Also, each student still needs his/her own ear buds or headphones to use on the computer. We work on a computer program twice a week and having over half the class with the sound going on their computers is distracting.
Thanks, again, for all your help! Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Holly Gregg

Classroom Expectations 2016-2017
Classroom Expectations are the rules the children came up with to show they're Attentive, Responsible, Thoughtful and Safe. They are below:
Class Rules 2016-2017
Developed by the students in Ms. Gregg’s class
Attentive:
I will listen with my eyes and ears.
I will sit still with my hands to myself.
I will raise my hand before speaking.
Responsible:
I will complete assignments.
I will turn in my work.
I will keep up with my belongings
I will take care of materials.
I will walk on the right side of the hall at Code 0.
I will keep my hands to myself.
Thoughtful:
I will listen.
I will help others.
I will be kind.
I will use polite language.
I will think before I speak.
Safe:
I will follow directions.
I will think before I act.
Your children are amazing and bright. Just like you, I want them to be the best they can be. Thanks for reading all of this and supporting your children so wonderfully.
