March 2023

A message from Principal Mrs. DeDe Pierce
Dear MECC Families,
Happy March!
Spring is just around the corner and things are hopping here at MECC! We are finishing our school-wide “In a world where you can be anything…Be Kind” campaign, and our heart is filling up with Kindness stickers! Our goal is to cover it by Spring Break. How is your family doing with your Kindness heart? Don’t forget to send pictures to Paula at pashworth@usd266.com so we can share them with the rest of our MECC family!
Keep your eyes on emails and news from your child’s teacher for details regarding:
- No School March 13-17 – Spring Break
- Spring Pictures – March 21! These include individual as well as class pictures.
- Big Truck Night – Gearing Up for Kids! March 28, 6:00-8:00 PM. Join us for an evening of family fun at the MPAAC! On the blacktop, families can explore over 20 big trucks and service vehicles. Join us inside MPAAC for our Family Resource and Activity Fair where you will find support resources as well as businesses and programs geared for family and child activities. Make sure and visit our table where you can take home a craft and a free book! Several food trucks will be on site for food purchase – YUM!
- Four-year old classes will be visiting Botanica in April – look for information from your child’s teacher coming home soon!
- Tanganyika will be visiting our 3-year old classrooms in April – look for information coming home from your child’s teacher about this exciting event!
- No School on April 7
- No School on April 17 for Staff Professional Development
- Enrollment – MECC enrollment is now open and filling so quickly – if you have a returning student, enroll soon! If your child is going to Kindergarten next year, please make sure and enroll before March 31st in order to confirm which school your child will attend next year. Kindergarten Adventure is May 10th – if you are enrolled by March 31, your child’s school will reach out to you with more information regarding this orientation event. If you have questions for Kindergarten enrollment, please call 316-350-2050 or email: enrollment@usd266.com
