Dear Parents / Carers,

The virtues of faith and perseverance have been very relevant over the last couple of weeks as we have been presented with many challenges. From weather conditions and pandemics to ongoing minor technical issues with remote learning, we have been truly challenged but in true Kirk Fenton style we have carried on with a smile making the best of what is thrown at us in order to support the children in our care. So once again, I thank all our pupils for always being the best that you can be, our parents for supporting the school and the staff who are working tirelessly to reflect upon and adapt their teaching as we go through this latest lock down.

Safeguarding: In order to ensure the safety of all our children as we do more online please be reminded of the rules when accessing online Meets

  • Parents must have signed the acceptable usage agreement before pupils will invited to a Meet.
  • Online Meets with school staff should be done from a 'living area' of the home, not a child's bedroom or bathroom.
  • Children should be appropriately dressed for the Meet, no pyjamas please.
  • Children should be using these times to discuss their learning and behaving appropriately. They must sign out when requested by their teacher.

Thank you for your help in keeping all our children safe.

Remote Learning: We fully understand that many families are facing trying to work from home whilst also supporting their child's learning and that the DfE guidelines for a minimum of 3 hours per day in EYFS and KS1 and 4 hours in KS2 has added to this pressure. We have tried therefore to make our learning as flexible as possible for those trying to fit it in around their own working hours as well as ensuring that children's wellbeing is supported through providing activities that don't require access to an electronic device.

The parent survey has been overwhelmingly positive with 92% of parents saying that the right amount of work is being set and that their children are coping well with it and I have shared all the lovely comments and responses with the relevant teachers. We are adapting as we go and will continue to do so throughout this difficult time. We want to make sure that our offer is right for the majority of our families and not determined by what other schools are doing however if you have any concerns or questions that relate specifically to your child or circumstances, please do contact your class teacher in the first instance. This can be done as normal by a phone call or email to the school office and the teacher will respond as soon as they can.

Have a lovely weekend and have faith that spring is just around the corner,

Mrs Karen Williams

St Mary's

Please join us for our virtual assembly which takes place on Wednesdays at 10.30am. Our hope is that it will be a pick you up for children and parents alike. As children are at home we sing and have fun thinking about a bible story or a specific question that the children ask.

Also, we are posting up a prayer post box outside at church.

If children would like us to pray with them for something, then we are encouraging them to write and decorate a leaf shape prayer (template below) and then walk down with parents to post it.

I will add any prayer leaves to our prayer tree at school assembly and at 'virtual; Facebook live assembly.
