- Parents or guardians of all students will receive low account notifications via email or phone call if their students account is at $8.00 or less for full price and $2.00 or less for reduced price.
- Negative account notifications will be made to all students via parents or guardians email or phone call.
- All negative account balances will follow the student throughout the year.

APEX Update: Pledge/Donation Payments
The final step for the APEX Fundraiser is to collect money from your sponsor's and pledges. We will be collecting money through Wednesday, November 7th! We have collected 75% of the pledges/donations as of today!
Please make sure all checks are payable to: Rising Star PTA.
Pledges/donations can be paid at www.myapexevent.com or send to the office in an envelope labeled with your student's name, teacher and access code.
We will announce the final money totals soon! HINT... We are getting a GAGA Pit! We crushed our lap/goal. We hit $959/lap pledged! Now we need the money to come in! Please contact your sponsors. Thank you!
Chat & Chew Books & Dates
Books can be found in our Rising Star Library, in most teacher’s classrooms, at the Johnson County Library & of course on Amazon or in brick & mortar stores. If you choose to purchase the books for your student, please consider donating them at the end of the year so that we can have more copies available to lend out each year. Donated books can be given to Mr. Wilson in the library. Thank you!
*Chat & Chew Party: Those students who have read & attended at least 3 Chat & Chew book sessions are invited to bring their lunch & their favorite book to share with their peers.
(Chat & Chew is held in the classroom during the student’s lunch period)
Halloween Costume Donation
Each year Merriam Park collects costumes to be distributed across the entire metro area. This year we collected nearly 700 of them and have distributed almost 500. Our Shawnee Mission schools really step up for those that need the support. As we were planning for future events, we thought about collecting costumes the week after Halloween. Many families don’t know what they are going to do with them after tonight and, if they are like me, they don’t want it just laying around their kid’s room. We thought if we collected costumes after Halloween, we would store them for next season and we may have an even greater quantity as well as greater selection and quality. Please consider donating any unneeded Halloween Costumes by bringing them to the office. We promise to put them to good use next Halloween for students across the metro.
Thank you ALL once again for giving back and being a part of this community wide effort to ensure that every child has a costume on Halloween!
Sincerely,
Dustin Springer
