A Very Special Thanks!
A heartfelt thank you to the families who attended, bid online, donated items for baskets, and volunteered their time. We are so lucky to have such supportive families as part of our Beacon Community. THANK YOU.
Thank you, Congressman David Cicilline and Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt for being a part of our event and continually supporting our schools.
A huge THANK YOU to the fabulous Chef Illum and the culinary student artists for working tirelessly to provide the delicious refreshments. The event would not have been possible with out you!
Thank you, Mr. LeClair, our dedicated Theatre Director, for providing entertainment. Thank you to the cast members of "Peter and the Starcatcher" who livened up the event!
Last, but certainly not least, a special thanks to our Fundraising Committee (pictured below) Greg & Jill Doura, Shannon Frechette, Beth Newberry and Priscilla Steenbergen who sacrificed their free time and worked incessantly to ensure that our 6th Annual Silent Auction was a success.

Fun Projects in Mr. Boland's Class
Also pictured below is another self-directed project by Junior, Felix Lambert. The painting depicts the protagonist Marin, from the novel We Are Okay by Nina LaCour as she alone deals with the grief over the loss of her grandfather. Also, a rugged individual and a nonconformist, Marin often looks towards her own moral compass during difficult times.
Great work happening in Mr. B-Dawg Boland's class!

Special Education Transition Services Event
Beacon's Transition Coordinator, Ellen Clark, will be hosting an event at Beacon to introduce families to State Services on Wednesday, Dec. 5th @1pm.
Representatives from the Office of Rehabilitation Services (ORS) and the State of Rhode Island Department of Behavioral Health Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH) will be present to talk about the services that they can offer our students. ORS focuses on supporting the person in regards to employment. BHDDH is responsible for planning, funding, and overseeing a community system of services for people with developmental disabilities, on the autism spectrum, and with emotional and behavioral needs. Both of these agencies are great resources who partner with students with IEPs as they transition out of high school and into the adult services world. The Special Education Department at Beacon highly recommends that parents attend.
Treats for Troops
Are you left with a mountain of candy after every Halloween? Perhaps you didn't have as many trick-or-treaters as you anticipated or perhaps your own trick-or-treaters got a few too many treats? Don't let that candy go to waste! Donate your excess candy to Soldiers' Angels "Treats for Troops" program! Soldiers' Angels will get this candy to our Troops and Veterans for a sweet treat.
Soldier's Angels is an non-profit origination that collects items for care packages for troops stationed around the world and to veterans at VA Hospitals.
