A Message From Our Principal
Hello Mesa families,
Many thanks to those of you that attended parent-teacher conferences at the end of 1st quarter! Communication between school and home is a vital component in the success of our students. We are so thankful for you and your commitment to the continued success of all Mesa students.
With November being a month to celebrate thanks, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to continue to work with you and your students. It is a blessing to be a part of the Mesa community! This month will offer a chance for us to celebrate thanks for a new building. Please watch for additional communication regarding our upcoming move into our art room and new office space as well as new information regarding arrival/dismissal practices starting when we return from Christmas break.
At the end of October, we celebrated Red Ribbon week. Red Ribbon week is
dedicated to educating students about drug awareness and making healthy choices. Thank you for helping your son/daughter participate in the spirit days! It was so fun to see our students dressed in their theme-wear and enjoying one another’s creativity.
On Thursday, November 18th, Mesa will host its annual Thanksgiving feast in our cafeteria. We are sad that our current COVID conditions prevent us from having any family members join students this year, but we are still thankful for the chance to enjoy having students present in the building. Just a reminder, lunch is currently free for all students. Any/all students are welcome to participate in having school lunch.
Finally, there will not be school the week of November 22nd – 26th. This is a week for all of us to spend time and make memories with our families and friends. Happy Thanksgiving!!
Thank you for the privilege of working with you and your children!

Classroom Updates
As students begin to dig into more complex math learning targets, it will be especially important for them to have automaticity in multiplication facts. Song lyrics can be easy to remember because music reinforces words. Turning math facts into a song can help your child remember the facts and develop better fluency – at least long enough to transfer from short-term to long-term memory. Another bonus to songs is that kids don’t get tired of hearing or singing them over and over again. In fact, that’s kind of the point of a song – to listen to it over and over again! Please help your student to practice these for 5 minutes each day.
Additionally, nightly reading (at least 20 minutes) will help build fluency, comprehension and confidence in your child. Please help to ensure your child is reading nightly. We look forward to helping your student continue to grow and learn!
