Comer Elementary's STAR News
March 6 - March 10, 2023
End of 3rd Quarter!
Our K-2nd grade students will complete end-of-quarter assessments for sight words, math facts, and phonics. Our 3rd to 5th grade students will take the MAP assessments again, and this data will help their teachers know what they need to review and re-teach as we gear up for Milestones assessments in April and May.
We are excited to see the progress our Comets are making, and we cannot wait to see how they shine this week! Also, remember that we have a TEACHER WORKDAY on MONDAY, MARCH 13TH! This is so that teachers can finalize grades and plan for the 4th quarter.

Note from Nurse Ramsey
Please consider sending your child to school with a water bottle as the weather is getting warmer. It is helpful if you make sure the bottle is clearly labeled with your child’s name. The fountains are back open, but it usually takes more water than that to balance out recess, PE, and other outdoor activities. Thank you!
March Reminders
Here are some things you can do to help your child be ready to start each day!
- Please make sure if your child has a jacket or hoodie that it is labeled with his/her name.
- A good night's sleep helps your child be rested and ready to learn.
- Be here no later than 7:50 A.M.
- Make sure your child has their agenda with any notes about transportation changes.
- Chromebooks need to be fully charged.
- Whenever your child is absent, please send a note on a piece of paper or in their agenda. You may also send an email to our secretary, Donice Moss.
- Parents are encouraged to send nutritious foods for snack breaks. Soft drinks and candy are not allowed, per our student handbook. Water only in water bottles (other drinks cause sticky spills).
