-Born 1028 in Falaise, Normandy. -Died on September 9th, 1087, - King of England from December 5th 1066 till his death., -Duke of Normandy from July 3rd 1035 till his death.

-Battle of Hastings, October 4th 1066, - "Whether Gentle or simple, i have Cruelly oppressed them all", - During his rule he kept Normandy and England separate until his death when his empire split.
Importance
-During his rule, many castles and fortresses were built in both England and Normandy. - Mainly remembered for the Battle of Hastings where he he fought with Harold II for the throne of England
