Traveling was very hard.
The Long Trail
The Oregon trail was very long for the pioneers. It was 2,000 miles or 3,200 kilometers. That is a long time to be in a covered wagon and it was very dangerous.
Troubles on the Trail
Some people had to cross flooded rivers, battled Indians, and fight off diseases. Also they had trouble finding water. Water, wood, and food were scarce.
Going on the Trail
Traveling on the Oregon trail, 1 out of every 10 Pioneers died along the way. Kids also fell out of the wagon and were crushed by the heavy wheels. Settlers also went to late in the year and got stuck on the trail.
The Trail
Going on the Oregon Trail was very hard. They had to face a lot of dangerous thing. It would take 5-6 months and maybe longer if you got delayed. It was very harsh.
