Students in Ms. McNeeley's Multicultural Literature course organized and led an all-day event to recognize Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 28th. Presentations were made by junior Nyah Carlson, sophomore Stella Perkins, and seniors Havilland Ford and Andrew Caldwell. Museum exhibits from Kennesaw State University were displayed in the Media Center, and Holocaust survivor Dot Sparer shared her incredible story. ELA co-department chair Ian Altman commented, "What our Multicultural Literature students have accomplished today is, among other things, a demonstration in cross-racial/ethnic/religious/political empathy. They have taught themselves, and shown us, what it means to see others’ real humanity across chasms that can seem bottomless. This is the human dimension of equity that data spreadsheets cannot capture." See photos from the event here.
