Principal's Update - March/April 2019
SPRING GREETINGS!
The spring season is finally here and we can say good-bye to the cold and snow. While this past winter was long, we did enjoy some wonderful school events with our students. Our school counselors organized The Great Kindness Challenge and all of our students participated in the week-long activities. Be sure to check out the picture of our Kindness Tree below! Students and staff also celebrated Read Across America early in March and enjoyed having special guest readers visit classrooms. Second grade students had a special visit with award winning author Kate McMullan while all of our first and second graders enjoyed a story telling presentation of the West African tale Sunjata. Thank you to our PTA for supporting these special programs for our children.
Our annual INTERNATIONAL NIGHT was a huge success! It was so wonderful to see many families at our school celebrating the many cultures of our school community. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to make this event so special.
Looking forward, our first grade concerts will take place the end of March followed by a Family Math night in early April. Our kindergarten and first graders will be treated to a special visit from author Alyssa Capucilli. Parent-teacher conferences are just around the corner and I know you will find this a productive time to hear about your child's progress in school.
I wish you all an enjoyable upcoming spring break with your families.
Warmest regards,
Mrs. Scotti
Save the Date!
Come hear a special presentation from VES school administrators, Ms. Lacy and Mrs. Maccarone and tour Village Elementary School and third grade classrooms. Our second grade students will also have a special visit to VES on the same day. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and parents to learn about the transition to VES and how similar our elementary schools are.
Welcome to Kindergarten!
We are excited to welcome our new group of kindergarten students very soon. Three sessions are scheduled for this date and families will be notified via mail as to which session to attend by mid April. Come learn about our school, the kindergarten program and ways to get involved with our school community.
