Weekly update
Week 7 wrap up...
Good afternoon SMS families:
As we wrap up this week and look forward to next, I wanted to put a few things on your radar:
You might have already seen or may soon see myself or our school counselor (Nick Jenkins) out and about. We have been doing home visits for some of our students who have been experiencing various difficulties. If you would like to request a home visit we would be happy to come by and chat on your porch about any issues that your student may be experiencing. Just send us an email at tmonson@scappoose.k12.or.us or njenkins@scappoose.k12.or.us and we will get something set up.
Our lunch bunch is off and running. Every Thursday at 11 staff and students are welcome to come and share some stories, fun and laughter via Zoom as we eat lunch. Other opportunities for social connection include our Wednesday Hot Chocolate Club. Reach out for more information on these and stay tuned for more to come!
As we wind down the quarter a reminder that one of the most effective strategies for success in CDL (distance learning) is following a set schedule every school day. Students that follow their school schedule will find that they can complete much of their work within this time frame as well as receive the help and support they need from their teachers.
PICTURE DAY at SMS is right around the corner!
Tuesday, October 27th from 12 – 6 p.m.
The preferred picture schedule will be students with the last name starting with:
A - G from 12 – 2 p.m.
H - O from 2 – 4 p.m.
P - Z- from 4 – 6 p.m.
If you are unable to attend the preferred time assignment please come when you can during the 12 – 6 time frame.
Pictures will be taken in the cafeteria in a social distancing manner.
DIRECTIONS: Enter the SMS parking lot from EM Watts Rd, stay in your car, drop your student at the breezeway between the cafeteria and the band room. Students are to have their picture packet in hand (unless ordering online) and mask in place when exiting the car. Once the photo is taken your student will exit the cafeteria on the north side of the building to be picked up.
Students will be expected to practice social distancing, hand sanitizing and masks are required except when the photo is being taken.
Please remind your children of the appropriate social distancing guidelines set by Gov. Kate Brown.

Have a restful and restorative weekend!
