Welcome to Green House 5
with Ms. May Voltz
October 5- 9, 2020
Dear Green House FamiLEE!
Our wonderful Green House learners have been creating some iMovie book trailers, and science videos this week. I am so proud of the effort that was put into the science at home videos. You can watch two of the many fabulous videos that were submitted below. It made my heart happy to see and hear the academic vocabulary being used so beautifully!
I encourage all of you to reserve a few non-fiction books for our next unit of study in Reading. Please see the attached information on how to reserve and pick up your books! All books go through a quarantine so rest assured they are safe!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Stay safe, stay healthy!

Morning Meeting Fun!
Adding (and multiplying, dividing, and subtracting), a little math into our mornings with a great fun way to learn about the Order of Operations using four 4's! What numbers can you create using on four 4's?
Examples:
4 + 4 + 4 x 4 = 24
4/4 + 4/4 = 2
4 / 4 + 4 - 4 = 1

October is National Bullying Prevention Month and the first Monday of every October is World Day of Bullying Prevention. On this day students, schools, and communities all over the world go BLUE together against bullying. Join us to stop bullying and cyberbullying by wearing a blue shirt on Monday.
LEEDERSHIP COUNCIL
It is time that we determine who your LEEdership Council member will be and that our learners participate in the democratic process. A K-5 learner, from each classroom, should be nominated and elected into this position. Candidates will need to prepare a short speech and may not spend more than $5 on their campaign. This is an excellent way to practice the voting process, public speaking, and risk-taking. Participation is also perfect for an election year! Please remember that those who have already served on LEEdership Council before are tasked with seeing the leadership capacity in others and should not rerun for a position.
