Meadow Park News

Principal's Corner
Hello Eagle Families,
We are moving into uncharted territory in education across the state, in our district, and here at Meadow Park. As you may have read, we are moving to Remote Learning For All (Phase 3 is BSD) across the state as schools will remain closed through the end of this school year. At Meadow Park, we are well positioned to make this transition. Our staff has been working at all hours to make this successful. All staff have begun to move to Canvas as the central hub for student learning. I encourage all families to sit down with their child as they go through the tasks listed below on Monday morning.
On April 13th, your first tasks are to:
Visit our REMOTE LEARNING SCHEDULE and read the bold paragraph above the schedule, noting that teachers will not necessarily be teaching live on that schedule.
Head to CANVAS and make sure you can see all of your teachers’ classes
Bookmark our OFFICE HOURS document to see when your teacher is available each day!
Fill out our STUDENT PLANNER with your teachers’ office hours & synchronous schedule
Complete the assignment on our school canvas page for REMOTE LEARNING EXPECTATIONS
Teachers will post updated lessons and assignments on their pages every Monday by 9:00 am. Additional lessons may be posted on Wednesday at 9 am. Read carefully for due dates! The schedule can give you a good idea of what to be working on any given day. The work you have each day should take 1-3 hours, potentially with supplemental activities (reading, watching videos or doing virtual experiments/field trips, Dreambox, etc…) to complete.
Canvas may link you to other websites or have important links to Zoom meetings. Be sure to visit Canvas at the start of every week (and likely daily) to get information!
The closure of school for the remainder of the year has generated a variety of feelings for our educators, students, and families. Many of our staff are expressing sadness and grief at the loss of time with students and the inability to finish the year with your children. The finality of school being done for the year also raises many questions about locker clean out, gathering items, and closing activities for our 8th graders as they transition to high school. I want to assure you that at Meadow Park we are committed to honoring the students who are moving on to high school and we will get creative about how we do so. We will also develop systems for gathering items, turning in library books or chromebooks by the end of the year, and accessing necessary supplies for students who cannot afford them. For now, I hope you will remain patient as we work through losing the rest of this year while also building systems of remote learning that will carry us to the end of this year.
As always, if you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Make it a great week!
Jared Freeman

What we are looking forward to in regards to on-line learning…
PARK Expectations
As we engage in this new format for learning away from school, we are asking that students AND parents/guardians, together, review our PARK Expectations - focused on remote learning. We want to remind students that we are still participating in school and we expect that they will stay Positive, Aware, Responsible, and Kind, just as they would when they are with us at school. Please let your child know that there is an assignment to complete in CANVAS. They will review the PARK Remote Learning Expectations and submit an assignment recognizing and acknowledging that they understand these expectations. Thank you for your support in helping us to create a positive community for all of our learners at Meadow Park.
