Queen of Apostles School

Term 3 Week 5 - Thursday 17 August, 2023

Prayer for the Assumption of Mary

Mary, you are our Mother in Heaven.

What a blessed day it was when Jesus took you into Heaven,

body and soul, to be with Him.

You were crowned Queen of Heaven and earth,

a position of love and service to Jesus’ Church.

At your Assumption,

you beheld the face of Your beloved Son once again.

May my life be inspired by your holiness,

Oh Blessed Virgin, my Mother.

May your prayers for me and your example of great faithfulness

aid and inspire me to holiness in this life

so I may be with Jesus in Heaven as you are.

May your Assumption remind me of God’s love and faithfulness to those who also love Him.

May I love Jesus with my whole heart and soul

both now and forever.

Amen.

Pyjama Day

Tomorrow the Social Justice Committee have organised a Pyjama Day to raise money for the Flame of Love Orphanage in the Congo. For a gold coin donation, the students can come dressed in their warmest winter PJ’s as a way of helping out those in need. The staff will also join in what promises to be a fun day.

Book Week

Next week is Book Week and to celebrate Mrs Peach in the library has organised some wonderful opportunities for our students.

The 2023 theme for Book Week is "Read, Grow, Inspire" and on Tuesday we are asking our students to dress up as their favourite book character and participate in a parade in the hall at 8.50am. Parents are welcome to join us.

Also, on Tuesday we have a visiting cartoonist, Gavin Aung Than, who is coming to talk to our classes about what is involved in creating characters and where he gets his inspiration and ideas from.

We look forward to a fun filled day!

Sacramental Retreats

Over the next few weeks our Year 3 and 4 students will be participating in retreats at the Schoenstatt Shrine to assist them in their preparations for First Communion and Reconciliation.

Can we please keep these students in our prayers as they continue their spiritual journey at this important time in their lives.

Father’s Day Breakfast and Stall

On Friday 1st September our dads and father figures will be able to enjoy a yummy breakfast with their children in the undercover area from 7.30am to celebrate Father’s Day. Please order by using the link below.

www.trybooking.com/CKLAL

Also, on this day the students will be able to buy a gift for dad at the Father’s Day stall.

I thank our P&F for organising both the breakfast and the stall for our community. If Mother’s Day was anything to go by it should be a great morning.

Quiz Night

On Friday 20th October the P&F Quiz night is taking place in the hall beginning at 6.30pm. Events like these are fantastic for our community and really add to our sense of belonging.

Obviously, a great deal of work goes into organising an event like this and I would like to thank the P&F for the amazing job in coordinating this event so far. There are many donations and great prizes coming in. We even have a signed and framed Sam Kerr Australia jersey as one of the auction items. You certainly don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to bid on this!

Get your table together and register via the poster in the P&F section of the newsletter. It promises to be a lot of fun!

Groundsman

In staffing news, our Groundsperson, John Boley, has decided to retire at the end of this term. I would like to thank John for all his work to make sure our grounds are looking fantastic and are safe spaces for our students to play. I have worked closely with John over the last three years and he will be sorely missed.

We are currently in the process of finding a replacement for John, if you know anyone who would be interested in a job like this, please let me know.
