"Love First, Last, & Always"
Each year, schools across our Elk Island Catholic division come together around a common theme. Last year’s? We are God’s masterpiece (Eph 2:10). This year’s theme invites us deeper into our relationship with God, “We love because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19).
God loves us; deeply, fiercely, and unfailingly. He loves each and every one of us, whether we feel we deserve it or not. God’s love isn’t something we have to earn. God gives it freely, and His love for us is so much greater than we can ever imagine.
Our first week back has had students exploring our theme and learning about God’s tremendous, constant, all-encompassing love! But this love isn’t meant to be held tightly and saved, but rather, shared with others. As a school, we are taking on a year-long kindness challenge that invites us all to turn our love into action! Stop by the office to see our weekly challenge!
“The promise of love and grace in our lives is this: Our worst day isn’t bad enough, and our best day isn’t good enough. We’re invited because we’re loved, not because we earned it.”
― Bob Goff, Everybody, Always: Becoming Love in a World Full of Setbacks and Difficult People

If your child has any medical needs please ensure you update these forms as they need to be completed yearly.
If you have any questions, need some help setting up your account or need help locating forms please feel free to contact our school office.

Parking
Always keep parking lot rules and safety at the forefront of any driving decisions you make in and around our school community. Every child deserves the utmost care and safety we can provide. Taking a few extra and cautious moments can make the difference and while some of the rules can seem over the top, preventing a serious accident or tragedy is the priority.
Pick up is at 3:13 p.m. Students are to meet their parents outside the school. There is no supervision for students after 3:24 p.m. Please pick up your children no later than 3:24 pm.
No Parking in the Drop Off Zone
Using the parking lot as a drop off area creates a traffic jam in and around the school communities. Please respect the signs, our students, and each other.
If there are no parking spots available, please do not use the driving lanes as a drop-off spot, or waiting area. Consider parking along Georgian Way, in behind our school on Garnet Cres, or up along Glamorgan Drive. Parking along the streets, and in behind the school creates an opportunity to walk with your child and catch up on their day while avoiding the stress of the parking lot.
We are an APPLE school
Aligning with our Apple School philosophy and our EICS Nutrition Administrative Procedure, we ask that all parents and school staff ensure strategies are in place to foster the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that promote safe, healthy eating. We recognize that breaking bread is an important element of our faith community and there will be times where we come together to share food in a celebratory manner. At these times, we will try to serve choices from the Choose Most Often and Choose Sometimes categories.
For nutrition purposes and because of the complexity of allergies at our school, we have asked staff and parents to please not bring in any food from home for class distribution such as; birthday cupcakes. While we recognize the value of celebrating in this manner, our commitment to the health and safety of our students takes precedence. Thank you for your understanding.

WE ARE GETTING A NEW PLAYGROUND and WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Strathcona County has a replacement schedule for playgrounds and the current wooden play structure will be replaced during the summer of 20121!! As a community, we have the unique opportunity to have input into the design features and set-up of the new playground! We also have the opportunity to work with the County in raising funds of up to $20,000 to be matched by grants to add to the new play structure!!
We are in need of parents to participate on a committee to supply input on playground design and look into grant options and fundraising. If you are willing to be part of the committee, we would love to hear from you! This is an EXCELLENT way to get involved in the school and have a lasting impact on our community! If you are willing to help out please contact Shawna Molnar(PAC president)at or please call the school at 780-467-3633 to express your interest in helping with this important project!

Ecumenical Mission October 6-9
This year’s Ecumenical Mission is titled "Interfaith Intersections” and is being led by the Rev. Dr. Scott Sharman. Interfaith conversations are an important reality in our increasingly diverse world. This October, Dr. Sharman will be exploring several questions in this regard: First, he will be looking at the scriptural, theological, and historical reasons why Christians need to be having these encounters. Second, he will be talking about the way these interfaith interactions have something to teach us about Christian ecumenical conversations. As it turns out, there are many 'intersections' between these two paths of dialogue, with gifts to be given and received in both directions. Come and find out more at this month’s Ecumenical Mission.
The brochure with the complete schedule is attached.
