WDMS OCTOBER NEWS

OCTOBER 2020

Hybrid and Virtual Cohorts

As you know, this year will be like no other- and that includes this year's unique scheduling needs. We hope this will assist you in preparing for your child's hybrid and/or virtual classes:

If your child is Cohort A, they will attend WDMS on Mondays and Wednesdays for in-person instruction and learn virtually on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

If your child is Cohort B, they will attend WDMS on Tuesdays and Thursdays for in-person instruction and learn virtually on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

If your child is Cohort C, they will attend WDMS on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and learn virtually on Fridays.

If your child is Cohort D, they will learn virtually every day.

Parents must complete the survey that was emailed on October 1st verifying their child's cohort by 5:00 pm by October 8th.

WDMS Is Helping to Ease the Stress of Virtual Instruction

WDMS knows that full virtual instruction can be stressful for both students, staff and parents. In an effort to assist our families, WDMS launched our “WDMS Student & Parent Text Help Line”! Students and parents can text questions at any time to 856-539-4632 if there are any questions about school, or need to speak with an administrator or counselor.

Also, WDMS School Counselors have compiled updated well-being and mental health resources to improve families’ access to these types of supports. Within our Outpatient Counseling/Therapy guide, parents can also view which local mental health agencies are providing in-person and telehealth appointments and what insurances they accept. You can find these resources on our school website by clicking “Well-Being & Mental Health Supports - Click Here!”.

October 5th is World Teacher's Day!

Submit a Staff Shout-Out!

October 5th is World Teacher's Day! What better way to salute our WDMS Teachers than to submit a Staff Shout-Out! We will send out this form every Monday as we hope to recognize staff weekly!

MASKS

Governor Murphy announced on August 3, 2020, that all students and staff MUST wear masks at all times unless eating, drinking, or where medical documentation states otherwise. As we anticipate our Hybrid Reopening on November 9th, we will require masks to be worn in the buildings at all times. Students are encouraged to place one or two masks in a labeled sandwich bag to keep in their classroom. We are researching safe ways to help students and staff with mask comfort and handling other issues. Face shields may be used as a substitute for other face coverings for students with special needs. Please see the New Jersey Department of Education guidance on face coverings here.

From the Nurse's Office:

As Hybrid learning begins on November 9th, we would like to remind parents of some important health issues. Please let me know if your child has any significant health history, life-threatening allergies, or special medical concerns. If your child has any of the following medical conditions, please complete the appropriate forms. This would include:

· Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan

· Asthma Action Plan

· Seizure Care Plan

· School Diabetic Care Plan

· Daily Medications, over the counter medications, and/or as needed medications. (Medication Administration Record form signed by a Licensed Healthcare Provider).

For ALL medications, you must bring the medication to school yourself in the original pharmacy-labeled bottle; do not send with your child.

Please bring in the required forms and medications prior to November 1st.

Please email the school nurse with any questions. Thank you!
