ESS Weekly Family Update
Week ending 211/2022
Update from Mrs. Weber
So nice to have a 5 day full day week! The kiddos continue to show amazing growth academically and socially-the random acts of kindness are everywhere!
It's been so nice for everyone to get outside for recess since the ice and snow has melted and it is safe to get out on the blacktop. Please be sure your child is dressed for the outside weather-they will be very cold in a hoodie and shorts outside-it is quite windy in the back.
A reminder to all 4th graders-the yearbook cover contest submissions are due by Thursday February 24th.
Mr. Saranich will communicate any changes to the mask policy in Shelton Schools. The decision about masks is NOT determined at the school level. If you would like to have your opinion heard about this potential change, you can email ksaranich@sheltonpublicschools.org. There is also a BOE meeting scheduled for Wednesday February 23rd at 7:00 at the BOE building on Long Hill Avenue.
Just a reminder that if your child has a fever or is vomiting, they must be 24 hours fever or vomit free before they can come to school. This is a district policy and ensures the health and well being of students and staff.
Please be sure that traffic continues to enter from Soundview and exit out Willoughby at all times. Parking is tight these days with the snow-please be mindful of others when parking and don't block other cars in. Doors are open for pick up until 3:59-if you come after the initial rush, parking spaces typically open up.
If you have to get out of your car in the morning, please park and walk your child. The drop off line is just for students exiting the cars independently out the passenger side door.
Any adult should have identification on them at all times when picking a student up. Please do not be insulted that we ask for it-safety is paramount for all students at all times.
If you message your child's teacher on Dojo or via email about changing their dismissal or reporting an absence, please also email the office. Oftentimes the teachers do not have time during the day to check messages or teachers may be out of school and unable to communicate the change to us. Email Mrs. Quinaln (dquinlan@sheltonpublicschools.org) and Mrs. Repasi (erepasi@sheltonpublicschools.org) to report the changes-thank you for your help with this.
Please note that there is no parking along the baseball field at any time-buses and cars are not able to safely pass when cars are parked there. I understand with the snow parking is limited, however the ability to get buses in and out safely is our first priority.
Incoming Kindergarten Registration-will take place beginning February first. Children who will be 5 by December 31, 2022 are eligible for registration. Please call the school (203-929-1330) to set up a registration appointment. Students DO NOT need to attend the registration appointment. A Parent information meeting will take place with Bus Safety Day-as soon as I have that date (typically the Friday before the first day of school) I will share. Please let any friends and neighbors know about the days as well.
Have a great rest of the week and the weekend-Mrs. Weber
