Tapas and T-Shirt Prom For Parents and Movie Night for Children

When: March 8, 6-8 PM
Location: UPE Gym (children) and Classrooms (Parents)
What: A wonderful Tapas dinner just for parents and caregivers. Meanwhile, your children eat pizza and watch a movie in the gym.
Why: Build community within your child’s classroom. Engage in the conversation “Things I didn’t know I’d signed up for when I became a parent.” A lively conversation with love, laughter and bonding!
T-Shirt Prom: Make a t-shirt that expresses who you feel you are as a parent. Fun and silly allowed!

DID YOU KNOW WE ARE HAVING A FOOD DRIVE????
Food Drive continuing through February 28th.
Service Corps is also sponsoring a Food Drive starting on Valentine’s Day and continuing through February 28th. All food collected goes straight to our very own District Food Pantry, which includes weekly deliveries to the Church in the Wildwoods for our families that live in the Ute Pass Area. The winning class will receive a 3D printed trophy to display in their classroom and an extra recess.
Items most needed in the Food Pantry include:
- Peanut Butter
- Canned Meat
- Fruit, cereal
- powdered milk
- snack type items such as granola bars and crackers

Mark your calendars....
On March 2, to honor Dr. Seuss’ birthday, Ute Pass Elementary and schools across America are inviting parents to come and read to kids and classes. We will begin our celebration at 8:15 with a Celebration Kick-Off in the gym, including a special Dr. Seuss Concert present by the students of 1st and 2nd grade.
Immediately following, we will have a Parent and Guest Read-In in all of the classrooms. Please call (685-2227) or email (dhainds@mssd14.org) Mrs. Hainds to sign up to read in your child’s classroom. Feel free to bring any short book of your choice. (We have plenty available.) You will be reading anytime between 9:00 and 10:00.
Thank you and we hope to see you at this school-wide celebration!
Be sure your child dresses as his or her favorite Dr. Seuss character, there are prizes!

RONALD MCDONALD CARE MOBILE OFFERING IMMUNIZATIONS TO MSSD 14 DISTRICT STUDENTS
On March 1st from 11 am till 6pm the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will be offering Immunizations in Manitou Springs on Duclo Avenue, across from the school bus lane at MSES. This event is for anyone ages newborn-21 years old who resides in Manitou Springs or attends a Manitou Springs school.
All forms that need to be completed are on all MSSD 14; School Facebook pages, the District webpage under District Information then under Health Information on the City of Manitou Springs Facebook page and they will be available on site at the RMCM on March 1st. Forms may also be picked up at each school.
The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is providing at no direct cost to the patient, immunizations for anyone ages newborn-21 years old.
MSSD 14 will transport students to and from the site from 11 am until 3pm. Only if the parent/guardian has completed the all Forms to include the Authorization for Treatment of a Minor, a parent/guardian does not need to be present for the immunization event. After 3pm transportation will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
If you plan to have MSSD transport your student please send in the completed forms to your student’s school by Wednesday, February 28th. The event has no appointment times, it is on a first come, first serve basis. If you are under 21 years of age and plan to attend or plan to bring your child (newborn-21 years old) to the RMCM please email the host coordinator LeAnn Sharon at lsharon@mssd14.org in order to maintain an accurate headcount of patients who will be attending so RMCM can plan accordingly.
