Student Council Elections
Student Council Elections
Have you always dreamed of being a part of a student council? Maybe you have never even given a thought to student council but you have ideas for making Halcyon the best school ever. Then you should run for student council. The student council planning committee is happy to announce that the Halcyon student council election will FINALLY be getting underway! Our student council will need:
a Secretary; keeps minutes of all topics discussed during meetings and helps organise meetings
a Treasurer; keeps track of the budget of the student council and keeps track of the amount of money spent by the student council
a Vice President; assists the president and steps in for the president if he/she is not present
and a President; chairs the weekly meetings, sets deadlines and meets with the faculty.
The four elected student council members will run the voluntary lunchtime student council committee meeting. The student council committee will continue to be open to any interested students who sign up and commit to regular participation.
You may start your campaign as soon as finish reading through this notice. Representatives will be campaigning until Friday the 12th of December. It will be up to you to plan out your campaign, this could include making campaign posters, planning out time for you to speak to advisories or any other ideas you can come up with. On the 12th of December all of the candidates will be given 3- 5 minutes to speak, show a video, a presentation or anything they would like. This will be the last element of every candidate’s campaign as voting will follow the presentations. Anyone may run for any of the positions, regardless of grade.
If you would like to run for any position you must fill out the google form before Monday the third. If you would like to be a part of the student council but don't feel that you are ready for such a large responsibility there will also be a committee that anyone and everyone can join that will work alongside the four student council representatives to make our school the best it can be. To reiterate:
Campaign starts: right now!
Submission for candidacy due: 3/12/14
Presentations: 12/12/14
